Description
The aim of the project is cooperation and the exchange of experiences between institutions which educate students with similar educational and development needs.
Since Sudurnes Comprehensive College just like Public Primary Inclusive School No.14 in Radom places importance on inclusive education, preparation of youth for the future life in society, the staff thinks it is necessary to get to know reference systems and methods of work.
The project involves getting to know the system of the inclusive education so that one could compensate the gaps of children from different backgrounds with less educational possibilities by teaching and therapy.
The project will be realised by 5 teachers of different specialities, school management, teachers of different subjects and specialists-supporting students’work with special educational needs directly. The project and its results will involve all the teachers, therapists, school management indirectly.
The expected results of the project are:
- getting to know and implementation of the model and methods of leading inclusive education, mutual exchange of experiences in the institution
- developing a polish model of inclusive education, the correction of the existing system in the institution
- the growth of pedagogy and didactic skills of teachers who organise the process of inclusive education
Dissemination and using the results is long-term and it is addressed to many target groups on each stage of duration of the project and after its completion.
The expected results will involve a large group of people: a school community (teachers,students,parents) and a local community: inclusion and special schools.
Summary of project results
The project primarily involved a Study Visit to the Icelandic institution Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurnesja. As part of the Visit, the participants met with the school''s management and teachers and therapists. During the meeting, they shared experiences in working with students with special needs, and talked about the problems of young people. In addition, they took part in job shadowing, observing Icelandic language classes in inclusive and special classes, learning about forms of testing knowledge and skills, social welfare activities, the practical learning program and the specifics of work in schools at the primary, secondary and higher levels. Participants also visited schools: Acurskola in Innri-Njarðvík, the University Center, the Icelandic Aviation Academy, the Health Academy and the High School, where they participated in early childhood education, physical education and English classes. As part of the Study Visit, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the Icelandic education system, the grading system and the system of inclusive education, they also learned about the ways and forms of cooperation between Icelandic schools and social welfare institutions and student support. Both the objectives of the project and the Visit were realized 100%. The project was implemented according to schedule. Dissemination activities of the project were successfully implemented.
Summary of bilateral results
Cooperation between the two institutions went very well. The institutions continue to cooperate by exchanging information and evaluations of implemented activities. As part of the project results, a plan for inclusive education in the classroom for the 2023/2024 school year was created, which will be reviewed by the teachers of the Icelandic Host Institution.
