Summary of project results
The goal of the Education Programme Component 2, Mobility in Higher Education was to strengthen cooperation between the University of Lodz and universities from Donor States carried out under the Erasmus+ program, Action 1: Education Mobility and under the Scholarship and Training Fund. The participation in the international project is in line with the objectives of the development and internationalization strategy of the University of Lodz, which demonstrates the need for similar initiatives. Through participation in the project, participants gained knowledge, experience and skills that are highly valuable in the area of study or, in the case of teaching staff, in the area of the scientific discipline they represent. At the application stage, the following number of mobilities were planned : 9 students from Poland to be nominated to the partner universities, 3 students from partner universities to the UL, 6 mobilities of academic staff from the UL to partner universities and 4 arrivals of academic staff from partner universities to the UL. It was possible to invite 6 universities to participate in the project, but due to outbreak of Covid19 and the shift to online teaching and remote work, the UŁ requested the Education Program Operator to extend the project by 12 months in order to be able to carry out the planned mobilities. Ultimately, the project was implemented from July 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022 with 4 universities from Norway and 1 from Iceland. One of the most important benefits of the project was the satisfaction of participants with the mobility, as well as the expansion of knowledge and acquisition of skills, which was highlighted in the evaluation surveys. Participants consider participation in the mobility as a developing experience, and would recommend attending such exchange to other students/employees. Extra positive value of this project is strengthening of cooperation between the University of Lodz and partner universities from Norway, which result in continuation of cooperation within Call 2021 in the next programme: Mobility in Higher Education.
Summary of bilateral results
The participation of institutions from the Donor States in this programme brought many benefits to the project participants (10 students and 1 employee). Through participation in the mobility, the participants had the opportunity to gain the experience of going to a foreign university to study or, for teaching purposes, deepening their knowledge, also improving their competencies and acquiring new skills. Thanks to the scholarship received in the Education Program, participants had greater freedom and comfort for studying in the countries of the partner universities, where the cost of living is much higher than in Poland. Cooperation with the universities contributed to the deepening of knowledge and understanding regarding the differences and similarities in the organization of mobility in Poland and the Donor States, as well as showed what are the limitations and difficulties in the exchange of students and academics between universities. The University of Lodz continues to cooperate with universities within the exchange of students and staff under the next project Component 2 Education, implemented for 2022/23 and under inter-institutional agreements within the Erasmus+ program.
