Description

Mobility in higher education

Summary of project results

One of the main assumptions of the project was to make it easier for students and staff to contact and exchange with universities from the countries, in which the cost of living usually makes it difficult for participants from Poland to attend. Keeping in mind the high level of education of our partners, we wanted to enable more TUL students and staff to travel to these universities. The high cost of living in the Donor States has often been a barrier to carrying out a mobility- participants gave up their trip if they did not receive a grant from the Education Programme.
Initially, the Education Programme aimed to implement 8 mobilities for studies, 3 for internships, 7 staff mobilities from Poland to the Donor States and 2 mobilities for studies, 1 for internship and 3 staff mobilities from the Donor States to Poland. Finally, as a result of the undertaken measures in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the agreements between the partners and TUL and between FRSE and TUL, the following mobilities were carried out: 7 mobilities for studies (including 1 student with a disability), 1 for internship, 9 staff mobilities from Poland to the Donor States. As far as the mobilities from the Donor States to Poland are concerned, the following incoming mobilities were carried out: 2 for internships and 2 staff mobilities. Unfortunately, there were no incoming mobilities for studies.
The project had a positive impact on its beneficiaries- participants of mobilities by providing  possibilities of sharing their professional knowledge, experiencing new learning and teaching environments, acquiring new pedagogical and digital skills, making contacts with staff and students in order to develop activities to achieve activities to achieve academic and teaching objectives, exchange good practices and tighten cooperation between higher education institutions.
A large proportion of participants mentioned in the survey that they had improved their skills in using information and communication tools and technologies (e.g. computer, Internet, virtual collaboration platforms, software).
Additionally, participants of the teaching mobility declared acquiring and developing new practical teaching methods.
On the other hand, from the seven  surveys sent by the students, it appears that the students are satisfied with their mobility and would recommend the experience to their peers. Some of the students have started or deepened the study of the local language.

Summary of bilateral results

Having institutions from the Donor States in the project caused the identification of new areas of cooperation and expanded knowledge of new teaching methods. One of the main results brought about by the project is strengthening cooperation and exchange of knowledge and good practices between partner universities. An example of such cooperation is the publication of a student and staff member from Norway, who completed their mobility at TUL.Participation in the programme was essential in preparing the Lodz University of Technology to join the Network of European Universities ECIU. Thanks to the implementation of visits to the University of Stavanger, a wider range of staff were able to understand the principles of functioning of specific projects carried out in the ECIU network. The University of Stavanger is a very active member of the network, involved not only in the operational processes but also in defining the strategy of the network''s development. The staff exchange has enabled to define in a faster and more comprehensive way the path for the Lodz University of Technology to reach the standards of functioning in the network.Collaboration with all participating partners in the project still continues within both programmes- the new edition of the Education and Erasmus+ Programme.
