Description
This project enabled 4 employees from the Medical University of Warsaw to participate in a job-shadowing mobility at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The aim of the project was for the participants to observe and discuss good practices in promoting health and mental well-being in various age groups, using the "whole school approach". During the mobility, the participants were able to identify different solutions applied in Norway at NTNU, which includes applied legal solutions (e.g. anti-discrimination policy, sexual harassment policy, health promotion policy, setting clear values), as well as solutions on the organisational level (staff /units/organisations involved in the promotion and management of health and mental well-being) by observing the health-promoting social and physical environment (e.g. meetings of student circles, organisation of a welcome week). Particular attention was paid to discussing the solutions used to support foreign and minority students, including people with special educational needs, LGBTQIAP people, migrants and refugees.
Additionally, participation in practical classes at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research on genotoxicity and nanotoxicity of the next generation of nanomaterials, under the supervision of the world''s top experts, allowed contacts to be made with laboratory scientists focused on toxicology, genotoxicology and nanotox in vitro. Laboratory skills were acquired in the area of nanosafety research and experiences were exchanged in vitro toxicological research. There are prospects for conducting the above-mentioned joint research on anti-cancer drugs.
Summary of project results
The mobility allowed to identify solutions applied in Norway at NTNU at different levels from applied legal solutions (e.g. anti-discrimination policy, sexual harassment policy, health promotion policy, setting clear values) and organisation (staff /units/organisations involved in the promotion and management of health and mental wellbeing) by observing the health-promoting social and physical environment (e.g. meetings of student circles, organisation of welcome week) after discussing programme content focused on strengthening interpersonal and intrapersonal resources and promoting wellbeing and discussing current research programmes on mental health and wellbeing. Particular attention was paid to discussing the solutions used to support foreign and minority students, including people with special educational needs, LGBTQIAP people, migrants and refugees. Participation in practical classes at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research in Kjeller, Norway, on genotoxicity and nanotoxicity of the next generation of nanomaterials, under the supervision of the world''s top experts, allowed contacts to be made with laboratory scientists focused on toxicology, genotoxicology and nanotox in vitro. Laboratory skills were acquired in the area of nanosafety research. There are prospects for conducting the above-mentioned joint research on anti-cancer drugs. Experiences were exchanged regarding in vitro toxicological research. Participation in the trip increased practical experience, thanks to which the academic staff is better prepared to continue their own research and conduct specialist classes with students in Poland. Computational skills have proved essential for analysing datasets in the area of geno and nanotoxicology. The overall objective of the Job shadowing mobility at WUM of Prof. Geir Arild Espnes and Prof. Unni Karin Moksnes from Norway, is to observe and discuss good practice in promoting mental health and wellbeing among students using a university-wide approach. The exchange of experiences between partner institutions contributed to the development in these institutions specific solutions and policies. Such experience has helped to improve the curriculum and student support at the university, resulting in an increase in the quality of teaching, the development of courses that shape professional attitudes, as well as intra- and interpersonal skills, which play an important protective role in professional and academic life.
Summary of bilateral results
The cooperation led to the improvement of knowledge in the field of research and development projects and the discussion of good practices. The mobility allowed to identify solutions applied in Norway at NTNU at different levels from applied legal solutions (e.g. anti-discrimination policy, sexual harassment policy, health promotion policy, setting clear values) Bilateral cooperation will be carried out in an informal manner, ie maintaining mutual contact.
