Description

As part of the training, 40 people working with children and youth will improve their skills and acquire new competences in dealing with populist content, hate, hate speech and fake news. Participants are representatives of various organizations and institutions that operate in the field of non-formal education. The workshops will be conducted by trainers from donor countries and Poland. Participants will learn how to support and educate children and young people in recognizing fake news content and hate speech on the internet. They learn new tools and methods of working with young people in the field of online security. Together they will develop 10 workshop scenarios for protecting young people against hate, radicalism, populism, hate speech, and fake news content on the internet. At the end of the training, there will be demonstration workshops based on one of the scenarios developed as part of the training. The demonstration workshop will be open to anyone interested in the topic.

Summary of project results

The following actions were undertaken in the framework of the Intensive Training:
1. Recruitment of participants - developing a detailed description of the training, preparing the invitation and sending it to those interested in the training.
2. Preparation of training materials - developed based on the analysis of the needs of the target group. Cooperation of Polish and Norwegian coaches.
3. Conducting the training - participants were divided into two groups in order to keep an appropriate distance and minimize the risk of coronavirus infection. The training was based on the theoretical part (lectures and presentations) and the practical part (team and individual exercises, case studies, discussions, exchange of good practices and experiences between participants). A group of participants with less knowledge of English could count on the help of a translator and trainers from Poland. The result of the training was the creation of 10 workshop scenarios for children and teenagers, concerning the recognition, opposition to hate speech.
4. Dissemination of the project results: due to restrictions related to the spreading SARS-CoV- 2 pandemic, we were not able to organize workshops for young people in Gdynia. The individual working groups presented their work to the other participants. Thanks to this, each person taking part in the workshops could get to know other people''s ideas in detail. Another action to assess the effects of the training is to use the resulting scenarios to conduct workshops in their organizations. The scenarios relate to the content of the training, among others protect young people from heterogeneity, radicalism, populism, hate speech and fake news on the Internet. Due to the current epidemiological situation, the workshops will be conducted both in a stationary and online form.
5. Project evaluation - daily evaluation, summary questionnaire, workshop reports, evaluation and analysis of work between trainers.
