Description
The planned actions aim at preparing an educational project on the integration processes of immigrants in Europe and Poland in the perspective of inclusive education. The result of the project will be a doctoral seminar at IFiS PAN. Migration including opportunities to include immigrants in the educational processes of receiving countries are not only important for Polish sociology, which is the interest of IFiS PAN, they are also of great social importance in the context of Poland, which receives a large number of immigrants. During the implementation of the project, and during a visit to the UI, with which IFiS PAN has been cooperating since 2015, the following activities will be undertaken: collecting literature, developing methodology (including contact and assimilation theory), preparation of the seminar program. The participant will be responsible for running the seminar, in which besides integration of immigrants the issue of social reactions to immigrants will be also raised
Summary of project results
The subject matter of the project carried out with the University of Iceland is the integration processes of immigrants in Poland and Europe and inclusive education in this area. Within the framework of the implemented project, the literature on the subject was analyzed (including research on the relationship between inclusive education and immigrants and integration processes), consultations were held with the administrative department of the University of Iceland, and methodological assumptions were consulted, taking into account, among other things, the issue of immigrant integration processes in selected European countries. Conceptual work on the theoretical assumptions of the project (inclusive education for immigrants in the context of complex integration processes in host countries) also continued. During the visit, the sketching of the seminar program was completed and presented to the host institution, and all the activities carried out during the visit were summarized and priority topics for academic cooperation were established. The participant of the visit was Dr. Rafal Smoczynski, who was responsible for organizing the doctoral seminar. The project was carried out according to the planned schedule. The only difference (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) concerns the implementation deadline, which was changed three times. The realized visit should therefore be understood as a strategic development of this cooperation, and secondly, as an opportunity for the project promoter to link knowledge of migration with threads of inclusive education for immigrants, which will be used in the conduct of a doctoral seminar at IFiS PAN. The seminar will be part of the policy of expanding knowledge among doctoral students about new aspects of social change in Europe resulting from increasing social, ethnic and normative diversity.
Summary of bilateral results
The project promoter reported that the realized visit to the University of Iceland, is part of the long-term strategy of IFiS PAN''s cooperation with UI, this cooperation includes both research and educational activities, mainly in the area of migration studies.
