Description

AIM: development of cooperation between the applicant and partners and adults living in Białystok''s estates with limited access to culture - going beyond the existing interpretation of the applicant''s museum collections, understood as a testimony to the development of military technology (selected museum objects will be given new meanings; the stories of people, military and civilians, involved in the activities of World War II, which in the local dimension are still very little known).

Summary of project results

The project involves examining the cultural needs of adults in relation to the applicant''s military collection. This study was carried out through innovative cultural activities designed by an interdisciplinary team of educators supported by experts from Poland and Norway. The starting point is memory education and education for peace, as a new line of development of the applicant''s offer, going beyond the current pro-military activity. Cultural events were held in Białystok housing estates and in Norway. They had an activating form, creating a space for the exchange of ideas and reinterpretation of the military collection and the war history of Białystok and Falstad. The conclusions received from the activities carried out became the starting point for developing the applicant''s audience development strategy. It is a document that sets out further steps to build a community around the museum and develop memory education. A description of the course and results of the project was published in the form of a guide to the method in printed and electronic versions available under an open license. A nationwide conference of educators organized at the end of the project created a space for popularizing the project''s effects, as well as building the competences of specialists from all over Poland, with particular emphasis on educators from military and war museums. It was an opportunity to initiate a discussion on the future of cultural education in institutions with this profile.

PROJECT GOALS:- development of cultural cooperation between the applicant and participants of cultural life through the implementation of new activities;- strengthening Polish-Norwegian relations through the implementation of a bilateral project based on the exchange of knowledge and supporting each other''s development;- strengthening the competences of the applicant''s employees and partners thanks to involvement in interdisciplinary activities;- improving the competences of educators from Podlaskie cultural institutions and military and war museums in Poland;- improving the cultural competences of adults by implementing cultural activities in areas with limited access to culture;- strengthening the potential of the applicant and partners in the development of cultural activities of local communities;- strengthening the competences of both the Applicant''s employees and its Partners in the use of military history to develop competences in the field of peace education;- strengthening competences in creating appropriate educational programs for target audiences, as well as exhibitions tailored to target audiences;- initiating a nationwide discussion on the future of cultural education in military museums;- strengthening the potential and promoting the potential of Białystok cultural institutions thanks to the organization of a nationwide conference on cultural education.
