Summary of project results
The project was implemented dur to the fallowing issues and challanges. In Poland, a decline in readership is visible. According to a report, conducted by the National Library of Poland, in 2019 39% of Poles declared that they had read at least one book. In 2020, there was a temporary revival of the book market. People, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, were forced to stay at homes and became deprived of access to culture. That was the main reason why they started to buy books. However, isolation, lack of interpersonal contacts and access to culture had many negative effects - weakened family ties. Also, contacts with peers required rebuilding. Wrocław and Lower Silesia lacked the offer that the Intergenerational Festival of Children''s Literature could become. Many families gave up their socio-cultural life. The older generation in Poland felt excluded due to the cultural offer that is not adjusted to their earnings or technological skills. So, the project involved comprehensive activities aimed at the development of the audience and the inclusion of families, also from national and ethnic minorities. Beneficiary and the Partnes introduced innovative methods and engaged cultural institutions, local leaders, organizations and schools in cultural events that djusted to the needs of children and youth. The effect increased in interest in literature and in cultural activity, and - in the long term - made the habit of reading.
Within the project the following activities and actions were undertaken like:
- "Norwegian Day" during the festival in Poland and Polish Day in Norway (3 workshops with authors in 3 age groups, a game inspired by mythology, an exhibition and a presentation of trends in contemporary children''s ).
