Description

The project aims to address the issue of poor technical condition of the secondary school building II LO in the city of Lubartów which leads to heat loss. The building has, among others, leaky windows and doors, flat roofs and gaps in the facade. This reduces the comfort of work and use of rooms where it is difficult to set the right temperature. Reducing the demand for primary energy will contribute to reducing the level of harmful greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and will lower the heating costs of the facility. The project consists of 3 parts: 1) investments; consisting in thermal modernization of the school building of and installation of a photovoltaic installation 2) information and promotion, aimed at disseminating information about the objectives of the project, increasing public awareness about energy efficiency and informing about the co-financing of the project with EEA funds 3) educational, which aims to promote ideas related to renewable energy efficiency and energy security. Effect of the project will be a building with thermal modernization, equipped with a photovoltaic installation, increasing primary energy savings, which will reduce operating costs in the building.
The target group benefitting from the project includes teachers, students, administrative and economic employees - 631 people. Seminar participants: Around 150 residents, 50 entrepreneurs. Readers of the Lubartowiak newspaper - 9,000 people, residents of Lubartów.

Summary of project results

The problem was the poor technical condition of the building of the Second High School, which led to heat losses. The building had, among other things, leaky windows and doors, flat roofs and defects in the façade, it was also necessary to modernize the central heating and hot water installations and replace the lighting fixtures with energy-efficient ones. The building did not meet the applicable standards for thermal protection, which resulted in high costs of heating rooms and high emission of harmful gases into the atmosphere. The comfort of work and use of rooms where it was difficult to set the right temperature was reduced. The low knowledge of residents, students and teachers in the field of environmental education was also a problem.

The project consisted of 3 parts. 1) the investment part, consisting in the thermal modernization of the school building II P. Firlej High School. The main construction works included: insulation and insulation of the building and replacement of window and door woodwork, modernization of lighting, ventilation, hot water and heating system installations, and installation of photovoltaic panels. 2) information and promotion, aimed at disseminating information about the objectives and effects of the project, increasing public awareness of energy efficiency issues and informing about the co-financing of the project from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. 3) educational, which aims to promote ideas related to renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy security. As part of the project, a Circle of Interest was established at the high school, 3 meetings were organized, articles were published in the press and a "tab" was created on the website with information about the project. These activities served informational, promotional and educational purposes. The following objectives of the project were achieved: improvement of the technical condition and energy efficiency of the building, improvement of the housing conditions of users, increase of safety reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

The following results were achieved as part of the project: - material effect: a building with thermal modernization, equipped with a photovoltaic installation. - ecological effect: CO2 reduction, primary and final energy savings, standard improvement energy efficiency of the building and increasing public awareness of energy efficiency. The target group of the project were: teachers, students, administrative and economic employees, seminar participants, residents, readers of the "Lubartowiak" newspaper.

Summary of bilateral results
