Project facts

Project promoter:
Piastów city(PL)
Project Number:
PL-CLIMATE-0126
Status:
Completed
Final project cost:
€1,163,062

Description

Identified direct and indirect challenges:
• Energy losses due to heat transfer through building partitions,
• High costs of heating school buildings,
• Unheated classrooms and common areas,
• No use of RES,
• Low ecological awareness of the commune’s inhabitants.

As a result of the project implementation, the buildings will fulfill the technical conditions in line with deep thermal modernization of building along with the use of RES.

Project effects:
improvement of thermal insulation of the school building, improvement of atmospheric air quality by limiting pollutant emissions, using RES, improving the living and learning conditions of the commune''s inhabitants, improving the aesthetics of the environment, achieving cost-effectiveness, which will save financial resources, increasing public awareness of energy efficiency. Project realization leads to a reduction of CO2, reduction of primary energy, increasing use of energy from RES and is increasing public awareness of efficiency energy, while holding cost efficiency.

The target group for the project is the general population of the Piastów City, especially school students, principals and school employees.

Summary of project results

The project entitled: "Improvement of energy efficiency in the building of the secondary school in Piastów" involves a deep thermal modernization of the building of the Secondary School  Adam Mickiewicz in Piastów along with the use of renewable energy.
The aim of the project was to improve energy efficiency in the school building in order to bring the building to a "passive" or "almost zero emission" energy standard.
Identified problems affecting direct and indirect project beneficiaries:
• Energy losses caused by heat transfer through building partitions,
• High costs of heating school buildings,
• Underheated classrooms and common rooms,
• No use of renewable energy sources,
• Low ecological awareness of the city''s inhabitants.

The key stages of the project and event implementation are:
1. Modernization of the central heating installation consisting of the following projects: installation of ground heat pumps, installation of a new natural gas boiler for peak demand, replacement of the internal installation, replacement of radiators with thermostatic valves, introduction of an energy management system.
2. Insulation of the flat roof
3. Modernization of domestic hot water
4. Replacing external doors
5. Replacement of windows
6. Insulation of external walls
7. Modernization of lighting
8. Installation of a photovoltaic installation
9. Educational workshops.
10. Information and promotional activities
11. Closing conference.

The project entitled: "Improvement of energy efficiency in the building of the secondary school in Piastów" included a wide range of activities aimed at informing the local community about the goals of the project, its implementation and involving residents in the processes of improving the urban environment.
General goal of the Project
