Description

Investment arrears in the scope of thermal modernisation of buildings generate a number of effect which adversely affect the attractiveness of the area and constitute a barrier to the effective use of economic, natural and cultural potential. Technologies used in the past cause insufficient thermal tightness of buildings, the results in large heat losses and high costs associated with exploitation, it is also the cause of unfavorable conditions on the objects and lack of comfort of their use.

A number of investment activities assumed in the project are related to the improvement of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources. Thus, the project will contribute, among others, to - reduction of air pollution emissions, - increase energy savings through technology investments and of eco-friendly equipment, - increasing public awareness of energy efficiency

Thermomodernisation will improve the conditions of use, thanks to the application of modern technologies, the project will positively affect the reduction of energy and heating costs.

Project result will have a positive impact to the natural environment, but also beneficial for students and teachers who are direct users of the buildings as well as administration employess

Summary of project results

The main target was electricity, which is driven by energy consumption and, as a result, reduces CO2 emissions.

The need to implement the investment results from the results found in the analysis on the energy level of buildings, the level of which translates directly into the use of energy and these costs, and in access to energy sources for use.

The technologies used in the past resulted in insufficient tightness of buildings, which resulted in high heat losses and high operating costs, which was also due to the characteristic conditions of the buildings and the lack of comfort of use. additional, fossil fuel electricity production, power source, emitted by excessive greenhouse gas emissions

Weather conditions were a challenge that prevented the implementation of the thermo-modernization task within the initially planned deadlines. There were also issues related to the timely delivery of heating equipment covered by the project tasks.

Thanks to the possibility of extending the project’s implementation period, everything was successfully completed.

The project titled “Thermo-modernization of school buildings in the Czarny Dunajec Municipality” aimed to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce energy consumption, ultimately leading to lower CO2 emissions.

Through this project, comprehensive thermo-modernization was carried out for four primary school buildings in towns: Podczerwone, Dział, Piekielnik, and Ciche.

The work included insulation, modernization of sanitary and heating systems, and the replacement of heat sources with modern biomass boilers. Photovoltaic installations were also installed.

The implementation of the project contributed to:

- reducing air pollution emissions,

- increase in energy savings through the implementation of investments related to the use of ecological technologies and devices,

- promoting new technologies in construction.

The beneficiaries of the project are four primary schools located in the Czarny Dunajec Municipality in the villages of Ciche, Dział, Podczerwone, and Piekielnik.

             Primary School in Podczerwone

Work included insulation of external walls, roofs, and roof decks, along with the replacement of windows and doors. The central heating and hot water systems were modernized. The existing heat source was replaced with a biomass boiler with a capacity of 0.1696 MW. Photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 20.3 kW were installed.

             Primary School in Dział

The Dział school building underwent external wall and roof deck insulation work. A photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 5.3 kW was installed.

             Primary School in Piekielnik

External wall insulation was carried out in the Piekielnik school building. The existing heat source was replaced with a biomass boiler with a capacity of 0.2108 MW. The central heating system was modernized, and a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 20.3 kW was installed.

             Primary School in Ciche

External wall and roof deck insulation work was completed. The central heating system was modernized with the installation of a biomass boiler and a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 20.3 kW.

The project’s goal was to improve the energy efficiency of school buildings, resulting in reduced energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions. The completed work also generated real savings for the budgets of individual schools and the entire municipality.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation between Norce and Gmina Czarny Dunajec has been a cornerstone of the project’s success, fostering mutual growth and achieving shared goals. Both Parties of the Project exchanged valuable experiences and expertise, sharing their know-how to improve the collaboration and achieve common goals. The Parties shared its best practices regarding new technologies for the thermal modernization of public utility buildings. During a study visit to the Norwegian city of Kristiansand, employees of Municipality Office of Czarny Dunajec explored new technologies used in projects implemented by the NORCE institute. Then, the Municipality of Czarny Dunajec had the opportunity to present to the Norwegians the potential of renewable energy sources in their area and showcase their commitment to project- related work.
