Energy audits that have been carried out has revealed the very low energy efficiency of the school buildings in Bukwald and in Sprecowo. The low energy efficiency generates significant amounts of CO2 as well as high operating costs. SP Bukwald lacks thermal modernization and has outdated energy sources and heating systems. SP Sprecowo has a heat pump, which generates a high demand for electricity, and an outdated lights system. These problems will be solved through this project implementation.
In the school building in Bukwald we plan to implement:
- A complex thermal modernization of the whole building, including: insulation of building partitions, a new heat pump, central heating and hot water installation, new interior lights with energy saving LED technology to lower the usage of electricity, and a new solar system installed on the building.
In school building in Sprecowo we plan to implement:
- New interior lights with energy saving LED technology and a new solar system installed on the building.
The project activities will allow us to reach high energetical efficiency of school buildings in Bukwald and Sprecowo. It will subsequently reduce CO2-emissions created by those buildings by at least 91% (combined).
Summary of project results
Energy audits revealed very low energy efficiency in the building of the Primary School in Bukwałd and low in the building of the Primary School in Spręcowo, which generated significant amounts of CO2 and high operating costs. The school in Bukwałd lacked thermal modernization and the building had outdated energy sources and heating system. The school in Spręcowo had a heat pump and outdated lighting, which generated high demand for electricity.
The project includes the buildings of the Primary School in Bukwałd and the Primary School
in Spręcowo have undergone extensive thermal modernization, as a result of which the energy standard of buildings has been improved.
The scope of work in individual buildings varied, and the modernization works included:
• insulation of walls and ceilings,
• replacing the heat source with a heat pump,
• installation of a photovoltaic installation,
• connection to a new heat source,
• replacing lighting with energy-saving ones,
• replacement of windows and doors.
As part of the project, activities were also carried out to increase social awareness in the form of educational workshops entitled: "Under the Green Sky" aimed at increasing awareness of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and their rational use.
In addition, the following information and promotional activities were carried out as part of the project, i.e.
- creation, positioning and updating of the project website in 2 languages (Polish and English),
- a press article published in the regional press during the project implementation and at the end of the project implementation,
- organization of 2 information meetings about the project in schools and a conference summarizing the project implementation,
- 2 information boards, 2 commemorative plaques placed on school buildings
As a result of the project, there was a significant improvement in the energy efficiency of school buildings. CO2 emissions will be reduced, which will improve the quality and environmental protection through the emission of air pollutants.
