Description
The project aims to address the low level of energy efficiency in three school buildings in Rogoźno Commune. Another challenge is the low level of awareness of residents in the field of environmental
protection. As part of the project, an information and educational campaign will also be carried out to raise the awareness of the local community.
As part of the project, the Rogoźno Commune will carry out actions that will improve the condition of the natural
environment:
- thermomodernization of the school building will reduce energy demand and CO2 emissions;
- the quality of atmospheric air will improve;
- the health of the inhabitants will improve;
- the inhabitants'' knowledge about the need to protect the natural environment will increase,
Project goals:
- reduction of CO2 emissions;
- reduction of dust and ash emissions;
- improvement of atmospheric air quality;
- improving the quality of life of residents.
The project will improve the air quality of the residents in the Rogoźno Commune and visitors of the commune as well as directly benefit the students and employees of the three school buildings.
Summary of project results
Thermal modernization of the building was to solve the problem of introducing changes that would limit heat loss and ensure more economical and energy-efficient interior heating. The main reason for the high consumption of heating energy was excessive heat escape from the building.The project aimed to reduce the demand and consumption of thermal energy in a given building, which results in a reduction of useful, final and primary energy as well as a reduction in maintenance and operating costs. This treatment ensures comfort of use and an appropriate microclimate in the rooms (temperature, relative humidity and indoor air quality).
Thermal modernization consisted of implementing changes aimed at reducing heat losses and ensuring energy-efficient interior heating and efficient domestic hot water heating. The changes include not only work related to the reduction of heat energy losses through partitions and ventilation by adding a layer of thermal insulation material.Conducting thermal modernization is an investment that brings a number of economic, ecological and comfort benefits. Thanks to the use of appropriate technologies and materials, the building''s energy demand is significantly reduced, which translates into lower heating and cooling bills. Students can enjoy a better microclimate in the building, which improves the quality of their functioning.The investment in thermal modernization led to real savings on monthly expenses.
Reducing energy consumption contributed to reducing pollutant emissions, including greenhouse gases, which is crucial in the fight against climate change. The need to implement the project resulted primarily from the very low energy efficiency of the school building and, consequently, inflated emissions of pollutants, inflated operating costs, risk of failure and low aesthetic class.
The project contributed to improving energy efficiency in school buildings by implementing comprehensive thermal modernizations of buildings in three primary schools, which led to a reduction in CO2 emissions, production of energy from renewable sources through the construction of a photovoltaic installation, and ultimately primary energy savings. The scope of the Project included the following 5 tasks:1. Thermal modernization of the building of the Primary School. Adam Mickiewicz in Budziszewko, which consisted of: 1) replacing external windows with energy-saving ones with a heat transfer coefficient Uw = 0.80 2) replacing external doors with energy-saving ones with a heat transfer coefficient Uw = 1.30 3) thermal modernization works of walls by insulating the external wall with Styrofoam thickness. 26 cm 4) thermal modernization works of the flat roof by insulating it with mineral wool granules 5) modernization of central heating by replacing radiators with new ones with thermostatic valves 6) modernization of the boiler room by replacing the heat source with a boiler with automatic control 7) replacement of lighting fixtures by using LED light sources 8) installation of a 20kWp photovoltaic installation 9) installation of a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery
Thermal modernization of the building of the Primary School. Józef Wybicki in Parkowo, which consisted of: 1) replacing external windows with energy-saving ones with a heat transfer coefficient Uw = 0.80 2) replacing external doors with energy-saving ones with a heat transfer coefficient Uw = 1.30 3) thermal modernization works of walls by insulating the external wall with Styrofoam thickness.
Thermal modernization of the building of Primary School No. 3. Greater Poland Insurgents in Rogoźno: 1) replacing external windows with energy-saving ones with a heat transfer coefficient Uw = 0.80 2) replacing external doors with energy-saving ones with a heat transfer coefficient Uw = 1.30 3) thermal modernization works of walls by insulating the external wall with Styrofoam thickness. 26 cm 4) thermal modernization works of the flat roof by insulating it with mineral wool granules 5) modernization of central heating by replacing radiators with new ones with thermostatic valves 6) replacement of lighting fixtures by using LED light sources 7) installation of a 20kWp photovoltaic installation 8) installation of a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery4. Investor supervision over the implementation of thermal modernization by appointing an investor supervision inspector and appointing a designer to supervise the project.
5. Information and educational campaign on the impact of the project implementation on the environment, which consists of: 1) organization of three conferences informing about the project, its effects and topics related to environmental protection, 2) information campaign about the project and its effects in social media, on the Beneficiary''s website, 3) organization of an ecological picnic at the end of thermal modernization activities, 4) organization of a competition for school students, 5) printing and distribution of leaflets with information and educational content regarding the project and environmental protection, 6) organization of ecological workshops for children, 7) purchase of information and commemorative boards.
As a result of the implementation of the project entitled Comprehensive thermal modernization of the School building in the Rogoźno Commune resulted in a reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and reduced energy consumption from non-renewable sources, which translated directly into:• increasing the use of renewable energy sources (RES),• reducing school operating costs,• improving air quality in the region,• improving the comfort of learning and working in the school building, and increasing public awareness of energy efficiency.Thermal modernization turned out to be the foundation of energy efficiency because it allowed to unlock the potential of buildings in terms of energy savings. In addition to thermal comfort, the natural environment also benefits, and users can enjoy lower heating bills.Thermal modernization was an investment that brought a number of economic, ecological and comfort benefits. Thanks to the use of appropriate technologies and materials, the building''s energy demand is significantly reduced, which translates into lower heating and cooling bills.
Thanks to thermal modernization, facility users gain a more stable temperature inside the building, which allows for comfortable functioning all year round, and they can enjoy a better microclimate in school buildings.Schools have reduced their operating costs by using less energy, reducing the effects of noise pollution, improving the indoor climate and providing comfortable working and learning conditions.Results from thermal modernization:• Reducing energy demand.• Reduction of pollutant emissions.• Lower building maintenance costs.To sum up, thermal modernization contributed to reducing heat losses and improving the comfort of building users using energy from sources.
