Democracy Action is a nationwide organisation campaigning in the areas of rule of law and democracy, human rights, climate and environmental protection and social justice. DA works for, among other things, the repair of the judiciary, education and schooling, defence of Poland''s membership of the EU, free media, Poland''s adoption of an ambitious climate policy, improvement of the humanitarian situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, and solidarity with Ukraine.
Action''s mission is to build alliances and enable and facilitate action for change by making its resources available to individual citizens and organisations. At least 1 million people have taken part in Action''s activities. The largest appeal involved opposition to the tightening of the anti-abortion law, with more than half a million signatures over several years. Opposition to the actions of min. Charnek''s actions was signed by almost 150,000 people. The largest protests in 200 cities were held in defence of free courts - up to a quarter of a million people participated.
Democracy Action provides campaigning tools on the Our Democracy platform, where hundreds of petitions have already been created and turned into campaigns - the largest reach was the ''Allow children with disabilities with individual teaching to learn in school'' campaign, signed by 100,000 people.
As part of the institutional grant, Democracy Action is planning, among other things, to establish a coalition of Polish and Ukrainian organisations working for Poland to move away from fossil fuels and stop importing energy resources from Russia, which will develop common climate demands and present them to the leaders of all groupings running in the 2023 elections. Democracy Action also plans to campaign for a transition away from fossil fuels (including an end to the import of energy resources from Russia) linking climate to peace and translating its key messages and appeals into Ukrainian and Russian or Belarusian.
