Description
Project objective is to create an energy-efficient technological line through which the company would substantially modernize the existing production process and effectiveness, as well as would allow to introduce new, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient products into production.
The new technological line would contribute to the efficient and utmost usage of natural resources as well as promote the cleaner production process by significantly reducing both electricity consumption and air pollution.
As a result of the project implementation, a significant increase in the productivity of production of existing products and an increase in competitiveness is envisaged along with a more modern, high-quality and productive production process.
The production process is expected to save 27,15 t CO2 per year, which will reach 135,74 t CO2 savings over the project life cycle (5 years). 23.09% increase of the company''s total turnover. At least 6 new workplaces will be created, and one will be dedicated to reduce social disparities.
Summary of project results
The main challenge was increased equipment costs. No other challenges were faced during the implementation.
The aim of the Project was successfully met – the company SFM Latvia Ltd created an energy-efficient technological line through which the company has substantially modernized the existing production process and effectiveness, as well as introduced new, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient products into production - Forberg Batch mixer, Forberg Continuous Mixer, Forberg Rotating Mixer, Forberg Rotating Vacuum Coater, Forberg Drying System, Forberg Heat Treatment System, Forberg Mineral Wool Mills. The new technological line contributes to the efficient and utmost usage of natural resources and promotes a cleaner production process by significantly reducing both electricity consumption and air pollution.
As a result of the project implementation, a significant increase in the productivity of existing product production and an increase in competitiveness are envisaged, along with a more modern, high-quality, and productive production process.
All the planned project results have been met:
- Production premises are equipped with new, energy-efficient and productive equipment (in the project as eligible costs):
- a new CNC four-axis hydraulic bending machine, “HFM M2 220/4”;
- a new CNC laser cutting machine, “TRUMPF TruLaser 3060 6kW”;
- a new welding robot system, “Img Robotersysteme AG robot welding machine for tanks”
- A new technological process is also developed and implemented in production in cooperation with the Norwegian project partner Forberg International AS to ensure that the production process meets the requirements and quality of the new products.
- Other significant results achieved - 6 new jobs created; estimated CO2 reduction of 27,15 tonnes/year; energy savings of 33,05 mWh per year; the project also contributed when it comes to reducing social and economic disparities by hiring 2 persons.
Summary of bilateral results
A partnership agreement between Ltd S plus and Norwegian partner FORBERG INTERNATIONAL AS has been concluded and executed. The knowledge transfer activities in cooperation with the Norwegian partner were actively carried out in through all stages of the project. Norwegian partner strongly involved in the implementation of the project by:-Provide engineering consultations to introduce the new production process for the Forberg products by creating a description and methodology of the technological process to ensure a simultaneous and full-cycle production process for the Forberg products. The partnership involved the involvement through the whole production process - set-up, installation and commissioning of a single production line consisting of laser cutting, folding, molding, welding and assembly processes, thus ensuring the maximum possibility of the rhythmic and efficient production process;-providing training courses for employees of the new production process of the Forberg products;-providing engineering consultations to implement the best practices in quality control systems for Forberg® products;-performing tests and conformity assessment of the new Forberg products manufactured through the new production process.Cooperation can be assessed as positive, and the collaboration is aligned with the conditions in the cooperation agreement.
