The project aims to increase the competitiveness of the SIA “Stikla Serviss” by 2024 by developing a new high-added-value product supporting welfare and quality of life: glass constructions to improve human safety, inclusion, and well-being.
As a result of the project, it is planned to produce a prototype of the new product which will not be used for commercial purposes and will allow the product to be considered as finished and verified (TRL 8), demonstrating that the production technology and the new product operate in its final form and under the planned conditions, to allow the company to start production of the new product in 2024 by closing work on the development launched in 2020.
Summary of project results
Project “Development of a new high added value product supporting welfare and quality of life by SIA “Stikla Serviss”” was needed to increase the competitiveness of the SIA “Stikla Serviss” by 2024 developing new high added value product supporting welfare and quality of life – glass constructions to improve human safety, inclusion, and well-being.
In the project Latvian company SIA “Stikla Serviss” and Norwegian company - AS “KLAUSENGRUPPEN” ensured experimental development activities for a new product (manufacture and testing of components and prototypes) using the knowledge and experience of both partners as well as Latvian scientific institutions. Specialists from SIA “Stikla Serviss” visited manufacturers in Turkey and potential partners in Norway, company registered a design of the new product as part of intellectual property rights and organized several events to inform wider society about the new product and project activities.
As a result of the project, SIA “Stikla Serviss” has prototypes of new product (TRL 8) for further development and promotion of new product and is ready to start production of the new product.
In the long term, the project will have a positive impact on SIA “Stikla service” financial situation (turnover and export), has established a successful collaboration between project partners and the new product is expected to serve well in planned applications as an aesthetic distancing option, public transport stops, bicycle racks and breathing booths.
Summary of bilateral results
The bilateral partnership was very significant and positive for the project, as the Norwegian partner AS “KlausenGruppen” shared its specific experience and expertise actively engaged in the development and testing of the new product, thus providing the SIA “Stikla Serviss” the opportunity to create new functionality for the product that takes into account the specificities of the Scandinavian market, such as the impact of heavy rain and wind or snow on the glass structure, which determined the end result for roof construction and insulation.The main result is developed cooperation that was created and will continue between both partners.
