Description

During project implementation, a new product will be introduced in the Company''s production - wide printed fabric that can be used for the production of wide bed linen. At the moment the company have no technology that would be able to ensure the production of wide-sized (over 1.65 m) printed fabric for the production and sewing of bed linen. It will be a brand-new technology in the company that is more efficient fabric printing compared to existing technology - will be reduced:

  • gas consumption required for polymerizing inks on fabric,
  • fabric consumption, as there will be less fabric waste to start printing.
  • dyes will be used more efficiently and will be less discharged into the sewer.

Introducing the new product will significantly increase the company''s competitiveness, as the company will be able to offer its products in new markets, as well will be able to produce for existing customers specific wide fabric orders.

The project will create at least 4 new high-quality jobs. The new jobs will be better paid compared to the current equivalent jobs in the company, because the new technology is more complex and the employee who will work with it must be significantly better trained with more specific knowledge (computer skills in English, because all the manufacturer''s programs are in English, understanding the information provided by the machine and be able to make adjustments during printing to avoid defects. Employees will need properly maintain the machine - clean the necessary areas, react to changes in printing, etc.) and have more responsibility for working with mew machine. New employees will have higher qualifications, as equipment management will be more knowledge-intensive.

Summary of project results

The Project''s (“Fabric for production of seamless bedding”) outcome was apply new product into production – started to produce large-sized wide printed fabric and sewing of bed linen without seams. The challenges addresse witihin the project mainly was related to the new technology and its implementation.

This is a brand new technology in the Company, which is more efficient fabric printing, compared to the existing technology, will reduce:

  • gas consumption required for the polymerization of colors on the fabric;
  • fabric consumption, as there will be less time to start printing;
  • dyes will be used more efficiently and less will go down the drain.

The main result of the Project is putting into production a new product – the Project Implementer`s company`s (Mežroze) own large-sized fabric for the production and sewing of bed linen without seams. The new product is more climate neutral in production process and reduces influence for environment.

By implementing the Project, the impact on the environment will be significantly reduced throughout the life cycle of the new product – in the selection of raw materials, the production process, as well as during the use of the products and their entry into the waste stream.

As a result of the Project, at least 30% of the new product will be exported to large-scale markets.

By implementing the Project, the Company created 4 (four) working positions (working places for new employees).

The Company will be able to supply customers with a new product – wide printed seamless bed linen.

The Project achieved its results, was successful and has the expected long-term impact. It matters that it achieved its results and was successful because into production was put a new product and it has a positive impact to the end beneficiaries.

As part of the implementation of the Project, a new production facility has been purchased, which enables the production of a new environmentally friendly product. The environmental aspect in the textile industry is gaining more and more importance, therefore, in terms of time, this Project was exactly necessary at the moment in order for the Company to strengthen its position in the market and be able to successfully compete with Chinese products.

The Project also has a positive impact on overcoming the market shocks caused by the geopolitical crisis when it is necessary to reorient from the Russian and Belarussian markets to European and other markets. For example, the Company will be able to enter the French market with the new product, which was not possible until now, because this market did not use wide seam bed linen.

Summary of bilateral results

The Project Partner (Norwegian company “Mayapapaya AS”) helped the Project Implementer (Mežroze) to put into production a new product – the Project Implementer''s company''s (Mežroze) own large-sized fabric for the production and sewing of bed linen without seams:•material trends in sustainability – understanding a market – what is going on around the world in fibres and materials related to sustainability and circularity;•understanding of main customers and their markets – what are the expectations from the end users and how is sustainability expected to be affecting their choices;•suggestions for the Project Implementer in this context related to material choices – suggestions on material choices and design strategies for the Project Implementer (Mežroze) in this future context of consumer change and sustainable demands as well as regulations from the EU;•prints and finishing tech or better alternatives – evaluation of more sustainable print and finishing technologies;•inspirational report in English – to assist in communicating and implementing changes;•to give the Project Implementer (Mežroze) a fact based platform for decision making to maintain a good position as a manufacturer for the European market.The Project Implementer (Mežroze) and the Project Partner (“Mayapapaya AS”) plan to continue bilateral cooperation in other projects, if it will be possible
