Description

The project aims to develop the 2x2 Foundation’s capacity by improving the management processes of the Council, strengthening its team, and improving the Foundation’s online presence in Latvia, as well as throughout the Latvian diaspora.

To achieve this, the following will be completed during the course of the project: (1)  the creation of a new, user-friendly website with a more manageable application process, integrating the newly developed visual identity to promote its recognition; (2) training the 2x2 Digital Communication team to maintain the organisation''s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram) and website; (3) providing training sessions for the 2x2 Council to strengthen and improve its capacity; (4) implementing four support sessions, led by a certified specialist,  which will facilitate the transfer and application of newly acquired teamwork skills required/essential for (choose one) the day-to-day work of the Council.

The project will significantly improve the Council’s work effectiveness and its ability to achieve goals. As the organisation’s recognition increases, so too will the involvement of new participants—many of whom later become seminar leaders—thus ensuring not only the Foundation’s legacy, but also bolstering a sense of belonging among Latvian youth worldwide. The participation of young people in the 2x2 movement promotes active citizenship and involvement, ultimately strengthening Latvian civil society as a whole.

Summary of project results

The project''s goal is to increase the capacity of the 2x2 Foundation by improving the Council''s management processes, strengthening its team, and promoting the recognition of 2x2 in Latvia and the diaspora.

To achieve this, the project will (1) develop a new, user-friendly website with an easier application system and integrated new visual identity to enhance recognition, (2) train the 2x2 digital communication team to maintain the organization''s social networks (Facebook, Instagram) and website, (3) conduct training to strengthen and improve the 2x2 Council team, (4) implement four support sessions with a certified specialist to ensure the successful transfer of new knowledge, skills, and action plans into the Council''s daily work.

The new website allows for better organization of reporting on multiple simultaneous events and participant registration. The site can better organize news, publicity, and updates in a fresh, modern look. We can also better maintain information about past events in a timeline archive, keeping our vibrant history visible and in an appropriate design.

As a result of the project, the Council has structured roles and responsibilities, developed a strategic plan for the next 20+ years, organized the budgeting process for new leaders, and created a mentoring system that we actively use for leader involvement and development. Most importantly, the Council now works more attentively on maintaining good mutual relationships and communication, ''checking in'' with each member after meetings, and striving to adhere to the quality management principles we learned and developed as part of the project.

The Council still needs to work on regularly adhering to quality management methods, the work they accomplished in the fall of 2022 has greatly aided in the continued development and growth of the movement. This includes developing communication and decision-making principles and distributing tasks and responsibilities by role. Since then, they have better structured finances and seminar budgeting, developed and implemented a mentoring system, and improved communication. Their seminars and other offerings have become more visible, and new participants continue to engage in them. This renewed and enhanced communication has been very valuable for the external aspect of the 2x2 movement, but even more so internally, as the Council continues to form and improve mutual interactions. The Council decided to allocate some funds to plan support sessions at least twice a year, as these have greatly helped to address any accumulated negative feelings due to interpersonal relationships and tensions.
