Summary of project results

The Latvian Red Cross Society implemented the project "Strengthening the capacity and sustainability of Latvian Red Cross youth at national level" from May 2021 to October 2022. The aim of the project was to develop the competences and participation of young volunteers in the organisation and in public life, as well as to promote young people''s civic awareness.  The 82 participants actively participated in the training and activities, gaining new knowledge on leadership, team dynamics, motivation, non-formal education, conflict resolution, etc.

The project developed a "LEADERSHIP MANUAL" - a comprehensive guide for the independent development of leadership skills in young people. A "LSC Youth Chapters Work Plan 2023" was also developed to improve the performance of LSC regional chapter leaders.

The project activities promoted the active participation of young people from different regions of Latvia, including ethnic minorities. This inclusive approach not only provided an opportunity for young people to come together to share common experiences and ideas, but also contributed significantly to improving and strengthening intercultural relations among young people.

The immediate impact of the project has been significant, improving the competence of the Latvian Red Cross youth chapter leaders to effectively manage their chapters and organise volunteering independently. The training also improved the leadership and participation skills of the participants.
