Summary of project results

The Latgale Committee of the Latvian Red Cross Society from 1 May 2021 to 30 April 2022 implemented the project "Capacity Building of the Latgale Committee of the Latvian Red Cross Society" supported by the Active Citizens Fund.
The aim of the project was to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of the Latgale Committee of the LSC to ensure the independent development of the Committee and the launch of new services in the municipalities of Northern Latgale.

The project included the following activities: a networking event for LatRC staff and volunteers, an experience exchange trip on the establishment of a Social Centre in Rezekne municipality, training for LatRC Latgale Committee staff and volunteers on working with social networks and coaching sessions for the Committee management and team to improve the Committee''s work organisation and expand the range of services offered. In total, the activities brought together almost 80 LatRC staff and volunteers.

An important project activity was an in-depth study on the availability of social services in the Northern Latgale region. This study focused on assessing existing social services, identifying key needs and providing valuable recommendations for new services. The results show the need for increased financial support, additional specialised staff and an improved structure of social services.
The implementaton of project activities also improved cooperation with state and local authorities, as well as non-governmental organisations, providing more comprehensive assistance to those in need.
