Description

There are many places in Latvia rich in historical evidence, but Koknese stands out among all of them. The Koknese park all together with medieval castle ruins and two river landscapes is a historically important cultural site as well as a remarkable tourist attraction center. "Perses Krasts" was founded in Koknese and aims to promote the participation of citizens in the care of the preservation of this unique cultural heritage.
The goal of the project "Step up!" is to strengthen the capacity of the society by developing economic activity to promote Koknese''s unique cultural heritage as a platform for the citizens to be more active and interested in participation.
To achieve this goal we will carry out the following activities: start an economic activity with services in the social tourism sector and the creation of a new tourist attraction object, create a modern management system and a team of loyal employees, practice and learn digital marketing methods and tools.

Result:
* increased revenue, not related to project funding;
* use of the M&E system in management work to strengthen the personnel team;
* inform the public about our activities in a consistent approach;
* 7 organization-related individuals have practiced and mastered digital marketing tools and methods.

Once the project has been implemented, we will continue to strengthen the organization to diversify its financial resources. During the first year, we will have the confidence and ability to take the next step - to reach out to potential investors, donors, partners and to present ourselves as a strong, creative and responsible "team player".

Summary of project results

The organisation which mainly exists on a voluntary basis, thanks to the activity of the founders and the interest of the public, had the following growth needs:

  • permanent financial resources and a stable cash flow to reduce dependency on project funding and to enable the organisation to achieve its objectives more effectively and more widely;
  • effective organisational leadership and human resource management to ensure a more empowered management of the organisation, more ambitious project implementation and business operations;
  • modern communication channels, staff with digital marketing skills and a digital marketing plan based on data analysis to keep the organisation''s website "alive" and to regularly inform the public about its activities, reach out to citizens to get involved and actively market the services developed.

To increase the share of non-project income, the organisation implemented a cycle of activities to expand and improve its economic activities. For example, in order to raise additional financial resources for the organisation''s activities, the organisations, in cooperation with the municipality, tourism entrepreneurs, representatives of creative industries and non-governmental organisations, developed and organised excursions and a team-building programme "Mission Koknese" for several work teams, student groups and classes. "Mission Koknese" has become a permanent activity and brand name of this organisation.

In order to effectively implement marketing activities, the website was technically and substantively updated with a section on social tourism offers, a digital marketing plan was developed, members were educated on the use of digital communication tools, and regular social media communication was maintained.

Within the project, several strategic management documents were developed - the organisation''s strategy for 2022-2027 and digital communication plan for the brand "Mission Koknese" for 2022-2027

The project has made a significant contribution to the development of the organisation - it has enabled the development of its economic activities, improved the knowledge of members and managers in the management and communication of the organisation, developed important planning documents for future work, as well as significantly increased the visibility of the organisation at local and regional level through successful communication.
