Palanga City Municipality Administration together with partner Palanga City Social Services Center will implement and develop the model of welfare consultants in the municipality. The aim of the project is to strengthen mental and reduce health inequalities in the Palanga City Municipality. The project will benefit residents Palanga City Municipality (adults aged from 18 and children Aged from 16to 18) who have symptoms of stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression and psychological adaption problems. To achieve the goal of the project, the following task have been set: 1. Installation of a workplace for a welfare consultant (repair of premises, purchase of furniture, equipment, acquisition of tools to improve the quality of work for the welfare consultant). 2. Increasing the attractiveness of welfare counseling services at the inter - institutional level of the municipality. 3. Provision of welfare counseling services.
The project will run a publicity campaign to create positive public feedback about the services of welfare consultants and their potential benefits to human mental health.
The implementation or the project will significantly contribute achievement one the national strategic goals of health care also improving public health and unambiguously corresponds to the mission of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania 2021-2023 strategic action plan.
Summary of project results
The aim of the project was to strengthen mental health and reduce health inequalities in the Palanga City Municipality. The project benefited residents of Palanga City Municipality (adults aged from 18) who have symptoms of stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression and psychological adaption problems.
To achieve the goal of the project, the following tasks have been performed:
1. Installation of a workplace for well-being advisers (repair of premises, purchase of furniture, equipment, acquisition of tools to improve the quality of work)
2. Training of well-being advisers
3. Increasing the attractiveness of well-being advisers services by implementation of different publicity activities
4. Provision of well-being advisers services to the population of Palanga city
During the project implementation, 2 service provision places were established, 3 well-being advisers were trained, and started to provide well-being advisers services in Palanga city. During the implementation of the project, intersectoral cooperation was strengthened, during which various institutions, associations, etc. of Palanga city municipality were introduced to the services provided. Collaborating institutions participated in interviews, and events, provided premises for Project events, shared leaflets publicizing project services in their institutions, displayed Project posters, etc. It is known that a significant number of service recipients visited consultations of well-being advisers, referred by employees of other institutions: case management, public health office, employment service, etc. The well-being advisors services are provided to residents who face stress, problems of anxiety, insomnia, depression and psychological adaptation challenges. The project introduced new free-of-charge low-intensity emotional counseling services and after training of well-being advisers provided services to 156 persons till the end of the project activities term. The provision of the services is being continued by 2 well being advisers after the project implementation period.
