In Lithuanian society, the psychological health situation of adults and children is quite problematic (Key indicators are high number of suicides, bullying problems in schools, high number of families at risk, etc.). The psychological state of children and young people is influenced by their immediate environment and is reflected in the management of emotions and behaviour. Moreover, professionals that are working with such people (both youth and adults) are in lack of clear or more structured approach. Therefore, new guidelines or practical service models are required to help stabilize this emotional state as effectively as possible. 
Due to this reason Public institution "Psychological support and Counseling Center" will provide a model of intensive integration for children and young people with behavioural and emotional disorders.
The main goal of the project will be to implement an innovative “Intensive Integration Model” developed by specialists-practitioners. It will be applied for children / young people with behavioural difficulties / disorders and their families, based on already available theoretical and practical experience.

Summary of project results

The project executor Psychological Support and Counseling Centre has been providing psychological and psychotherapeutic assistance to children, young people with various developmental disorders and their families for ten years. The specialists of the Centre ant the project partner have adapted, tested, and published practical-scientific methodologies based on new scientific psychological research, world-renowned methods and principles of narrative, family therapy and cognitive psychotherapy. These social service delivery models, as well as their existing knowledge and experience, have been integrated into the new “Intensive Integration Model” for counseling for children with behavioral difficulties and their families.

The aim of the project: To implement an innovative “Intensive Integration Model” developed by specialists-practitioners for children/young people with behavioral difficulties/disorders and their families, based on the available theoretical and practical experience.

Applying the prepared assistance model, the Public Institution Psychological Support and Counseling Centre provided intensive social integration services and shared this experience with Lithuanian specialists.

During the implementation of the project, an innovative “Intensive Integration Model” was implemented, tested, and evaluated, and recommendations for the application of the model prepared and presented to the public.

134 specialists from Jonava, Kaišiadorys, Kaunas districts, Marijampolė and Elektrėnai municipalities participated in the trainings “Intensive Integration Model”, and more than 50 children and their families received project services.

The project partner advised the project executors who provided services to children/youths with behavioral and emotional disorders and their families, participated in the remote final event, advised during the "Intensive Integration Model" study.

Target group of the project: children/young people with behavioral and emotional disorders or difficulties, their families, and their immediate environment (school, friends, local community).

A cooperation network was created, a competent team of executives was assembled, premises were renovated and adapted to work with the target group. The practical assessment and improvement of the services provided and the results achieved within the scope of the model was encouraged.

A new model of social services was implemented and evaluated, working with a target group, and trained local community specialists contributed to the continuity of the project results, the implementation of new activities and projects.

Summary of bilateral results

The project partner is the Norwegian organization Nordic Baltic Organization for professionals working with children and adolescents (NBO). It was long lasting cooperation before and during the project. During the project, the partner advised project implementers who provided services to children/youths with behavioral and emotional disorders and their families. Also trained on difficult cases and the application of methods to solve them, participated in the remote closing event of the project. During the project, the project manager cooperated with partner both on project activities and in implementing the Intensive Integration Model in Lithuania. Completed 30 hours of supervision.In cooperation with the NBO, comprehensive assistance was developed and implemented for children and young people with behavioral and emotional disorders according to the scientifically and practically based "Intensive Integration Model". After the end of the project, further cooperation with the partner is planned, consulting on the services provided to children and young people with behavioral and emotional disorders, applying the model of intensive integration.
