Description

The aim of the project is to provide quality and accessible youth-friendly health care services that meet the needs and to encourage young people to choose a healthier lifestyle in the territories of the municipalities of the project (Raseiniai, Klaipėda, Akmenė). Achieving the intended goal project promoter will provide young people (14-29 years old) with confidential services that help to strengthen their physical and mental health, contribute to the promotion of healthy lifestyles in order to reduce the incidence of young people''s illnesses and address young people''s concerns in a targeted way.

The main activities that will be carried out during the project implementation - implementation of youth-friendly healthcare services model algorithms in Raseiniai, Akmenė and Klaipėda municipalities, employing a coordinator and psychologist in each municipality and organizing supervisions, inter-institutional cooperation and youth trainings / events.

Organizing events for young people will promote social communication, the lack of which is felt in the target municipalities, due to low youth employment and lack of events. During the events, communication with new people will be encouraged and educational activities will be carried out. These project activities will not only disseminate information on the activities of the youth-friendly healthcare services Coordination Center, but also ensure social communication between young people, and ensure inter-institutional cooperation and the dissemination and sharing of knowledge and information through the participations of various institution.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to provide high-quality and accessible youth-friendly health care services that meet the needs of young people (14-29 years old)  and to encourage young people to choose a healthier lifestyle in the territories of the municipalities included in the project (Raseiniai, Klaipėda distric and Akmenė).

In order to achieve the intended goal, young people were provided with friendly, confidentiality ensuring services that help strengthen physical and mental health and contribute to the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits. A network of institutions providing youth friendly health care services (YFHCS) was established in all three municipalities participating in the project and contributed to the successful implementation of complete complex algorithms in each of the municipalities participating in the project.

The following 8 algorithms were implemented by the project applicant and its partners:

1. Prevention of sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancy;

2. Prevention of the use of psychoactive substances;

3. Prevention of alcohol consumption;

4. Prevention of depression;

5. Prevention of suicides and self-harm;

6. Prevention of health disorders related to overweight and obesity;

7. Prevention of sexual violence;

8. Prevention of eating disorders.

During the project, all three partners implemented the YFHCS model in their municipalities, organized and provided case management and psychologist consultations for the young people, participated in trainings and supervisions. Two publicity events, algorithm implementation experience sharing events between services providing specialists, and supervisions with social partners took place, summer camps for young people were organized in Raseiniai and Klaipėda distrct municipalities and all three project partners  organized youth health-enhancing activities and carried out trainings for young people according to the themes of 8 the implemented algorithms.

Project results and continuity – approx 1200 times young people of Raseiniai, Akmenė and Klaipėda district municipalities were provided with high-quality and affordable health care services, which help to strengthen physical and mental health and develop healthy lifestyle habits. After the project implementation psychologists and youth health coordinators in each municipality will continue providing services and consultations for young people. Close cooperation between project partners will continue. Joint events will also be organized, sharing experience about the effectiveness of newly acquired tools, the application of new methods in preventive work, the implementation of the YFHCS model. The good cooperation experience gained between partners during the project and the network of institutions providing YFHCS in municipalities will continue to function, so the goals of the project will continue to be achieved and the development of the YFHCS model will be ensured.
