The aim of the project is to improve the services provided in the health offices of Kėdainiai and Anykščiai district schools. It should be noted that Kėdainiai and Anykščiai districts have an underdeveloped health care infrastructure for children and youth. The difference between urban and rural areas is particularly noticeable. An increasing number of children have behavioral and emotional disorders. Smoking, alcohol and drug use are on the rise. Many of the problems are related to social difficulties. It is therefore very important that the project activities contribute to solving these problems. During the project, the renovated health offices, equipped with health promotion measures, with a special focus on mental health improvement measures, will attract more children and youth. Specialists of public health offices of Kėdainiai and Anykščiai district municipalities, having modern means to improve mental health, working in health offices, will make a more significant contribution to the development of children''s and youth health infrastructure. The implementation of the project will contribute to the reduction and prevention of health inequalities.
Summary of project results
Kėdainiai and Anykščiai districts have an underdeveloped health care infrastructure for children and youth. The difference between urban and rural areas is particularly noticeable. An increasing number of children have behavioral and emotional disorders. Smoking, alcohol and drug use are on the rise. In order to contribute to solving these problems the aim of the project was to improve the services provided in the health offices of Kėdainiai and Anykščiai district schools for children and youth. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to train specialists who would able to recognize and solve cases of children and youth experiencing bullying and/or psychosocial problems, to increase the number of health offices of pre-school and school education institutions, where improved services for children will be provided.
During the implementation of the project, the health offices of 16 institutions of Kėdainiai and Anykščiai municipalities were renovated, 39 health offices were equipped with methodological tools and equipment. A total of 1601 methodological tools and equipment items were purchased during the project, of which 923 are aimed at improving mental health of children and youth. During the project 21 local specialists were trained to provide services with the purchased tools and provided these services to children and young people.
During the implementation of the project 3939 children and young people received improved services and used the purchased tools and equipment. Services for children and youth were improved in 39 health offices. More than 90 percent of the health offices specialists trained during the project confirmed enhanced abilities to recognize and treat cases of bullying and/or psychosocial problems among children and youth. Developed and equipped infrastructure, as well as trained specialists, allowed to make a more significant contribution to the development of children''s and youth health infrastructure and reduction and prevention of health inequalities.
