Description
With this project, we seek to expose one of the biggest and most damaging recent cases of abuse of power in the construction sector. The main result of the project is a journalistic investigation on how the well-known Klaipėda’s business and political figures as well as civil servants used regulation loopholes to illegally build private luxury houses in a picturesque seaside area that is owned by the state. The aim of the project is to lay the foundations for legal change to prevent further abuse of power of this type and to increase transparency as well as public accountability of the elites. In addition, with this project, we seek to strengthen civil society organizations in their fight against corruption and nepotism. We believe that the project will help to prevent new cases of this type of violation of the public interest.
