Description
As people''s lives improve, consumption and the associated pollution and destruction of nature increase sharply. To start changing this situation, we need to start with ourselves - we must strive to change ourselves as a consumer, to develop responsibility towards nature. The aim of the project is to teach the local community about sustainable consumption, change thinking and form a system of values based on environmental dimensions. During the project we plan to:
• 280 participants will gain basic knowledge about sustainable food selection, preparation, consumption, benefits;
• 10 participants will learn to sew, gain knowledge on how to make scraps, sew, repair, change clothes, sew bedding or other necessary items;
• 150 participants in creative educational sessions will learn to give a "second life" to used things that are no longer needed;
• 2 “heat exchange huts” will be built where people will be able to leave their own and choose the right clothes, shoes, other household items, books and magazines for themselves;
• 15 project participants will attend English language courses;
• The concentration and citizenship of community members will increase, more people will be attracted to civil society, volunteering activities, and their activity and skills will increase.
In our project, we will try to show what we can each do on a daily basis, choosing food, making or eating at home, buying a new garment or item, to be as wasteful as possible and to be closer to a philosophy of waste without waste
Summary of project results
Improving public life and rapidly growing consumption have had a major impact on pollution and the destruction of nature. In order to contribute to changing this situation, we must change our consciousness as a consumer to cultivate responsibility towards nature. In this project, we aimed to educate the local community about sustainable consumption, change thinking and shape the value system to be based on environmental dimensions.
During the project, participants gained basic knowledge about the selection, preparation, consumption and benefits of sustainable food. 10 participants of the project attended sewing courses, in which they learned to sew, acquired the skills to make clippings and cut clothing, sew it, repair, change and renew it, sew bedding and other necessary items. Together with the designer, the participants learned to give a "second life" to used, obsolete items, to change their purpose. Two heat exchange huts have been built, where people have the opportunity to leave their own and choose the right clothes, shoes, other household items, books and magazines.
10 project participants had the opportunity to improve their communication skills in English. The pandemic and strict quarantine that occurred during the project forced people to improve their IT skills. The project increased community focus and citizenship, and encouraged more people to volunteer. In our project, we carried the message that even one person''s proper approach to sustainable consumption and waste sorting has an impact on nature conservation. Only responsible civic behavior of each of us every day, in every place can change the situation for the better.
