Description

The aim of the project is to create a distance learning platform using the latest technological solutions as an educational tool to enhance parenting skills and mental health in families of premature newborns, involving health care workers, volunteers and the latest foreign adapted teaching methods. 

The problem is the poor psychological condition of premature babies and the lack of information on the physical health, development and growth of premature babies. 

Target group - parents and family members of premature newborns (4500 persons), medical staff (120 persons). Linking the project to the general objectives of the APF program is to strengthen civil society and empower vulnerable groups.

The created platform will provide vital information on every day until school age, for the care issues of the premature newborn. The information on the platform will be presented in the form of texts, videos, webinars and will be available to everyone, at any time of the day, with the opportunity to quickly use the recommendations and methodological material of the highest qualified specialists. The childcare-monitoring platform is especially relevant for families living in the regions. The educational platform will create conditions for qualified and constantly updated information designated for the future and current medical employees in hospitals throughout the Lithuanian region.

Project results: an innovative distance learning tool developed during the project; families were provided with psychological and social worker remote consultations, were organized trainings for medical specialists; regional seminars for families were organized; trainings for volunteers were organized.

Summary of project results

The project''s goal was to use the latest technological solutions to develop a distance learning platform as an educational tool for strengthening parenting skills and mental health for families of premature newborns, involving health care workers and volunteers, and applying the latest training methods adapted from abroad. The project has fully achieved its objective.
The project addressed the problem of the poor psychological state of parents of premature newborns and the lack of information on the physical health, development and upbringing of premature newborns. 

During the project "Development of distance learning tools for prevention of preterm newborns” a distance learning platform www.auginulietuva.lt was created using the latest technological solutions as an educational tool for strengthening parenting skills and mental health for families with premature newborns, involving health care workers, volunteers and applying the latest training methods adapted from foreign countries. methods.

The created platform provides vital information on the daily care of premature newborns and enables future and current medical workers in hospitals throughout the region of Lithuania to receive qualified, constantly updated information. During the project, project promoter worked with families, providing psychological and social worker consultations, organizing regional trainings; also organized training for medical specialists and volunteers. The project contributed to the strengthening of civil society and the empowerment of vulnerable groups, and promoted close cooperation with hospitals and non-governmental organizations.
