Description

Ascalia was founded in Cakovec in 2018 and registered for computer programming activities. Ascalia''s business consists of assisting manufacturing companies in analysing and optimizing their production efficiency, energy and resource consumption, and overall production. Using a combination of Industrial IoT and machine learning, it allows any factory to connect and optimize its machines at effective cost, mostly simplifying the barrier to adopting Industry 4.0 and remaining competitive in the global market.

This is an R&D project that aims to enable zero net waste in the production of dairy products packaged in cups, in case there is a foreign body (such as a piece of plastic) detected in dairy packaging. The project will result in innovative "plug and play" platform that can be installed on production lines to control the production process.

Current practice in production of dairy products is if a foreign body (such as a piece of plastic) is detected in dairy packaging, this will result in 50-100 products being thrown away, depending on the type and speed of production. If an end-consumer discovers a foreign body in a product that has already been placed on the retail market and reports it, the manufacturer must withdraw the entire batch of product, which can be up to 160,000 products. Finding a way to divert waste from the landfill because of withdrawal is a goal for each manufacturing company to lower expenses and achieve sustainability in their factories. This project helps to achieve this goal by using Ascalia''s innovative advanced inhouse developed software (AI algorithms, control software) and hardware (near-infrared cameras and special electronics all enclosed in a housing) made for production lines in dairy product factories.

It is expected that this project will result in increased turnover and operational profit for Project Promoter. By reducing waste in dairy production process, project will help to reduce CO2 emissions and waste creation.
