Description

Since its inception in 1991, DOK-ING has been a global frontrunner in specialized robotic systems. Today, it commands a staggering 60% of the global market for demining machines in the light systems segment and continues to push boundaries with its unmanned dual-use systems.

In response to the changing global landscape, wanting to stay competitive in an evolving world while also addressing pressing environmental concerns, DOK-ING is embarking on a strategic shift towards waste management equipment.

The scope of DOK-ING’s project is ambitious yet vital. The fashion industry alone churns out over 92 million tons of textile waste annually, with low recycling rates. Inclination toward synthetic materials additionally exacerbates the environmental toll. This industry alone accounts for approximately 10% of global emissions, a staggering figure that demands action.

DOK-ING''s response to this challenge is their R&D project: the Mobile Waste Management Gasification Solution. This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionize textile waste disposal by offering a comprehensive, ECO-friendly alternative. Key features of this solution include:

  • Production of clean syngas for space heating and sanitary hot water preparation.
  • Emission of environmentally neutral flue gas into the atmosphere.
  • Reuse of process water for syngas purification, minimizing waste.
  • Energy self-sustainability through the gasification process.
  • Safe and eco-friendly waste treatment, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
  • Production of solid residue rich in carbon, suitable for reuse in the construction industry.

By diversifying its product range to include this innovative waste management solution, DOK-ING is poised to tap into new markets, increase its revenues, and bolster its profitability. This strategic pivot not only reflects the company''s commitment to innovation but also underscores its dedication to addressing global challenges head-on.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to address environmental concerns, particularly the vast amount of textile waste produced annually and the associated low recycling rates. It sought to combat the significant contribution of the fashion industry to global emissions, as well as the increased use of synthetic materials, which worsens the environmental impact. Additionally, the project aimed to ensure sustainable waste management solutions through innovative, eco-friendly technologies like gasification, while simultaneously expanding DOK-ING''s market presence and profitability.

The project developed the Mobile Waste Management Gasification Solution, an innovative system designed to revolutionize textile waste disposal. Key activities included researching and designing technology that produces clean syngas for heating and sanitary water, emits environmentally neutral flue gas, and reuses process water for purification. The output of the project is the Mobile Waste Management Gasification Solution, apt for eco-friendly textile waste management treatment.

The eco-friendly and energy self-sustaining waste management solution, as the outcome of this project enables significant reduction of environmental impact of textile waste. It helps reduce emissions from the fashion industry by offering a cleaner alternative for textile disposal, benefiting both the environment and industries grappling with waste management challenges. The primary beneficiaries are businesses in the fashion and waste management sectors, as well as society at large, which gains from improved environmental sustainability and reduced emissions.
