Description
The company Marinetek Adriatic is a joint venture company for the production and sale of equipment for marinas and consulting in the construction of nautical tourism ports. The founders of the company are NCP Repair Shipyard – a recognized worldwide partner for the repair of yachts and mega yachts and Marinetek Group OY - Europe''s largest manufacturer of concrete pontoons and marina equipment. Norwegian partner, Stadt Towing Tank (STT) has 13 years of experience in the most complex experimental hydrodynamical tests to the Norwegian and international marine industry. This is development and investment project in maritime supra-structures. Project is consisted of development of new solutions for floating elements like wave breakers and pontoons installed in marinas, shifting from steel to carbon composite material. Within the project, 3 innovative models and 8 products of floating solutions are planned to be developed.
Summary of project results
This Project was designed to address 2 main challenges that are present over the last years in marina waterfront industry: 1. need for long lasting floating elements which keep original quality, reliability, safety and aesthetic standards, and 2. need for bigger and stronger concrete floating elements which will enable creation of new usable waterfronts and better utilization of water areas in existing location and also enable docking of bigger vessels (increasing trend in boating industry).
Project was realized through close bilateral cooperation with the Norwegian partner Stadt Towing Tank, in a manner that the latest state of the art technology and processes were used.
New products developed through this project are designed to have an operational life cycle of 75 yrs - and theoretical (perfect conditions) lifecycle of 100 yrs. (compared to existing products with 30 yrs operational lifecycle). Innovative combination of carbon composite reinforced structure with concrete will enable long lasting elements without losing any original quality, reliability, safety and aesthetic standards. Additionally, these elements will not need any operational investment in maintenance - due to composite reinforcement concrete will not crack, there will be no structural deformity, and no appearance of corrosion.
Within the project, 3 innovative models and the total of 8 products of floating solutions were developed, anchored and tested:
2 Breakwater Composite (BC) series 4300 with keel
3 Premiere Composite Pontoons (PEC) series 3300
3 All Concrete Composite pontoons (ACC) series 2400
With the developed innovative products, the company will be better positioned towards key customers: marina owners, waterfront project developers, and also the end user: boat owners and marina users. By developing these new solutions, the company will have positive impact on waterfront industry.
Summary of bilateral results
Project was realized through close bilateral cooperation with Stadt Towing Tank in a manner that the latest state of the art technology and processes were used. Project contributes to the improvement of the bilateral relations between Croatian and Norwegian companies through R&D collaboration.
