Description
The project will promote the employment of vulnerable unemployed residents of the City of Athens through awareness raising, training and certification, individualized psychosocial and employability support and job placement. The main objective of the project is increased employment among recently unemployed people:
The project will include, inter alia, the following main activities:
- creating a labor market needs assessment on which the development of training curriculum will be based on;
- engaging with local businesses for the establishment of a Network of local businesses with identified skills needs;
- selecting vulnerable unemployed residents of the City of Athens that will benefit of the services. They will be selected using transparent procedures and with due respect to the principles of equal treatment and non-discrimination;
- offering certified trainings and psychosocial and employability support to vulnerable unemployed people. The design of the training methodology, the development of the training curriculums, as well as the delivery of the training activities will be assigned to selected academic/educational/training entities that present concrete and solid experience;
- developing of an information management system in order to facilitate the monitoring of the different
- project activities and outputs and to support sustainability as the system will be maintained after the
- project end in order to build on the results of the project;
- facilitate the matching of trained and certified unemployed people with hiring businesses
Summary of project results
The project “Social integration, Youth Employment and Poverty Reduction – Skills on Demand” promotes the employment of vulnerable residents of the City of Athens through a holistic program that develops awareness, training and certification. The program also offers individualized psychosocial and professional support as well as job placement services. The main objective of the project is for recently unemployed people to find employment.
The main objectives of the project are:
empower beneficiaries to re-enter the job market
the systematic recognition and coverage of the needs of the local labour market, and
the overall enhancement of the capacity of the City of Athens to empower and support vulnerable groups through employment, while aiming:
to recognize the needs of companies in terms of job positions and the skills of personnel operating locally.
to develop training programs that meet the needs of companies and make them available to beneficiaries through an online platform.
to provide individualized professional counselling and psychosocial support to beneficiaries/individuals belonging to vulnerable social groups.
to connect beneficiaries with the needs of companies and to actively support their employment
to support companies with consulting services for the preservation of job positions and to create an active network between the participating companies
The Skills on Demand Project support the employment capacity of vulnerable people, establish a solid base of training materials and ICT tools, while gaining valuable knowhow throughout the whole implementation period.
- Successful individualised employment counselling to vulnerable people / beneficiaries living in the city of Athens

The main achievements of the project, are:
1 Fit-for-purpose information technology system operational to match beneficiaries with jobs was developed and is fully functional
1 Labour Market Survey mapping labour supply and demand was developed

159 vulnerable people registered in the IT system for support
8 workstations were set up for beneficiaries who lack the necessary ICT equipment to follow the training courses in collaboration with the Inclusion Department of the Municipality of Athens
858 Employment Consultations and Psychosocial Counselling Sessions were delivered
143 Beneficiaries were attracted to the SoD Project
The training courses was attended by 138 beneficiaries
48 beneficiaries completed the training course assigned to them
38 beneficiaries participated in certification examinations
25 beneficiaries succeeded in obtaining a certificate
The beneficiaries (vulnerable people) that applied for the project were 205; 159 of these met the formal requirements. The rest of them either did not meet them or did not send their data in the proper way.
All 159 beneficiaries were registered to the online platform, and subsequently, had full access to the services of the project. Moreover, 143 of them received consulting support, with the vast majority deriving from Greece (131) and the rest from various other countries.
The online training was attended by 138 beneficiaries. Some of them did not attend the courses and in particular 47 never entered the online platform. 48 of the beneficiaries that accessed to the platform managed to complete the training program assigned to them, whereas 38 of them managed to participate in certification examinations. 25 of them successfully passed the exams.
Fifteen (15) training courses were procured and are available in the online platform. Additionally, the platform hosts two (2) extra training courses produced by other European funded projects.
A fully modular information and training system was developed hosting the website of the project, the counselling services and an e-learning platform. The online system will be maintained by ADDMA after the end of the project and will be utilized in other initiatives as well (e.g.: providing training to the 2.500 people under the Cleaning Department of Municipality of Athens).
