Description
Brite Hellas S.A. is a company working to create industry solutions based on nanomaterials.
Prosol is an investment project within the green industry innovation focus area, concerning the setup of a new production line to produce semi-transparent PV panels for greenhouses and other applications (where only part of the glass of a cell is covered with silicon PV cells, therefore permitting light to pass through). This semi-transparent PV panel will allow the crops to grow and photosynthesize while at the same time generating electricity. The energy production will be sufficient to cover the operational energy costs of the greenhouse. This is a continuation of R&D project supported through Business Innovation Greece - 1st Call.
The main objective of the project is to start the production of a new green energy source that will reduce the need for non-sustainable energy.
29 jobs will be created through the project, as well as a new green solution to the market. Through ProSol, Brite Hellas S.A. will increase its revenues and competitiveness.
Summary of project results
Prosol was an investment project within the green industry innovation focus area, concerning the setup of a new production line to produce semi-transparent PV panels for greenhouses and other applications (where only part of the glass of a cell is covered with silicon PV cells, therefore permitting light to pass through). This semi-transparent PV panel will allow the crops to grow and photosynthesize while at the same time generating electricity. The energy production will be sufficient to cover the operational energy costs of the greenhouse. This is a continuation of R&D project supported through Business Innovation Greece - 1st Call.
The main objective of the project was to start the production of a new green energy source that will reduce the need for non-sustainable energy.
Through the project, Brite Hellas set up a new production and assembly line for semi-transparent solar panels. The necessary equipment was procured and installed for the production line, that included the glass coating (glass loader, glass washing, deposition of materials, thermal stabilisation, coating test) and automated solar panel assembly. The production line was set up in a facility of 5,765 square meters in the industrial zone of Patras, that was rented by the company for this purpose. The facility includes the production area (assembly line, storage area (for materials and finished products), offices, an R&D lab, and other auxiliary areas.
The company is expecting that the production capacity will reach over 200,000 square meters of semi-transparent agrivoltaic panels by the end of 2025, equivalent to over 20MWp of installed capacity.
The project is expected to lead to improved financial performance for Brite Hellas (increased turnover and net operating profit), while 14 new jobs have already been created in the company as a direct result of the implementation and the new facility. The production facility is also expected to contribute to a greener agricultural production, with less dependence on fossil fuels and decreased CO2 emissions.
