Description

The project is needed for the following reasons. First, to raise awareness among citizens and achieve related multiplying effects. Second, to apply innovative technological solutions to address existing problems. Third, to promote modern green development. Fourth, to implement environmentally friendly initiatives and policies. Fifth, to reduce inequalities and improve the local community’s living standards. Sixth, to adopt Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving international standards and good practices through extrovertive cooperative actions. Seventh, to promote technologies and practices that will improve the local community’s daily life.

The project aims to reduce the Municipality’s Indoor Sports Facility energy footprint, improve the local community’s living standards and raise awareness regarding green development.

The project consists of the following sub-projects.  First, the supply and installation of innovative green technologies for retrofitting the Indoor Gym of Moschato into a building of almost zero energy consumption. Second, the construction of smart meters network for the project’s needs. Third, the consulting services for the project monitoring and activities (events, seminars, etc.) for the dissemination of the project results.

The project plans to apply innovative Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving technologies to the frequently visited Indoor Gym of Moschato to raise awareness among the building’s users on how to embrace similar behaviors and/or policies in their daily life.

The local community is expected to benefit in multiple ways. First, awareness will be raised regarding innovation and sustainable development. Second, the building’s comfort conditions will be improved. Third, energy consumption will to be reduced to meet the building’s operational needs, reducing in turn the energy footprint and CO2 emissions. Fourth, the existing social and economic inequalities in the area will be mitigated.
