Description

The current project is planned to strengthen the cooperation between two higher education institutions and to improve the quality and innovation of teaching in the area of theological education. Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology (NSLT) is good partner for us for at least two reasons – they are culturally comparable and theologically similar. At the same time they have a lot to teach to us – how they have combined Baptist and Pentecostal Theology, what they teach in the area of Church and Society and how they have combined bachelor and Master study. They have long term experience in international cooperation, which is one more thing we would like to improve in our school and between two schools. The main need addressed is to improve teaching quality. At the moment, it has too little international flavour and impact. This is due to the fact, that our faculty members, specially the younger ones, have not had enough international teaching-and-learning experiences. Thus, the main target group is teaching staff. We plan to exchange experiences, learn from each other to improve our teaching skills and thus, improve the professional development of our faculty. As a long-term result, we hope that this will result in long-term cooperation between two institutions and – in hopefully better teaching-learning quality in both institutions.

Summary of project results

The main result of the project was improved and diversified teaching quality and international experience for both schools involved. Unplanned result was opportunity to learn a lot in the area of Pentecostal theology – both through the visiting teacher in Estonia and through our visit to Norway.

Actions were related with the staff mobility.

1) Mobility 1: Staff from Norway teaching in Estonia October 11-13, 2022, at the Estonian Free Church Theological Seminary in Tallinn, Estonia. Lecturer Tommy Davidsson from the partnering institution presented a full 3 ECTS intensive course on “Pentecostal Theology and Ecclesiology”.

2) Mobility 2: Staff from Estonia teaching in Norway October 18-21, 2022, at the Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology in Oslo, Norway. Our lecturer and MA program leader Meego Remmel gave lectures in total amount of 10 teaching hours by giving input in three different classes: “Church, Mission and Society”, “Pastoral Leadership” and “Baptist Theology”

3) Mobility 3: Three staff members from Estonia as learners in Norway.

Exchange of good practeces, lectures for students. Main beneficiaries were students, also for the institutions in general to improve the teaching quality.

Summary of bilateral results

Project benefited from the partnership with the Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology (NSLT) in following aspects: partner was culturally comparableand theologically similar. At the same time they have a lot to teach to us – how they have combined Baptist and Pentecostal Theology, what they teach in the area of Church and Society and how they have combined bachelor and Master study. They have long term experience in international cooperation, which is one more thing we would like to improve in our school and between two schools. Planned activities were all implemented – bilateral visits to both schools to teach plus another visit to NSLT to gather experience and learn about their school in more detail. We are currently looking for other projects or funds to continue the cooperation and to develop it further. Our hope is that there will be another round of the EEA/Norway Cooperation Program in Higher Education in the future
