Summary of project results

The aim of the project activities was to bring the basic school graduates back to the education system so that they can continue their education in vocational, vocational secondary education or general education. Another aim of the project was to continue the educational path of young people that are basic school leavers and unemployed people with a lower level of education.

Project activities - i.e. vorational orientation programme - enabled young people with a lower level of education and who are members of the risk group to continue their education and develop readiness to enter the labour market after the year of vocational selection studies.

Through 3 schoolyears altogether 40 students were enrolled to the longer 60 EKAP vocational orientation programme, most of them students with special educational needs (SEN, incl. lower ability, low learning motivation, adjustment and mental difficulties, more insecure and previous negative school experience). 35 of them have already moved on to study a concrete profession or entered the labour market.

Within the project, Haapsalu Vocational Education and Training Centre collaborated tightly with Astangu Vocational Rehabilitation Centre in Tallinn.

Haapsalu Vocational Education and Training Centre is seeing potential in vocational orienation programme and plans to continue with the programme. During the project, a shorter 30 EKAP programme curricula was developed that would be useful to carry out with local elementary schools to level out basic knowledge and career awareness of students. Cooperation with Astangu Vocational Rehabilitation Centre continues as well.
