Description

SmartVent is a software based solution that makes sure that the climate hardware is working as efficiently as possible. In the context of the current energy crisis, many property managers are looking for solutions to optimise the energy consumption of buildings through automation - for example, by reducing the outside temperature during the building''s working hours or otherwise regulating the heating. Although building ventilation equipment and district heating equipment are equipped with digital interfaces, through which the equipment can be made ''smart'', such an interface has not been created for many central heating boilers currently in use in Estonia and neighbouring countries. The above is a significant obstacle to the implementation of the Calidity EMS complete solution in buildings that use local central heating instead of district heating.

Within the project, TarkVent OÜ plans to create and acquire a controller program and controller devices with which to digitize, control and monitor the most common central heating boilers in our region and test this solution in a pilot project. As a result of the project, a heating control program base and interfaces will be prepared for Calidity EMS, which can be used to control various central heating boilers optimally and environmentally through the Calidity platform.

Summary of project results

The main challenge of this project was to find ways to control various central heating boilers optimally and ensure the process as environmentally friendly as possible. Hence, project focused on creating and acquiring a controller program and controller devices with which to digitise, control and monitor the most common central heating boilers and testing the solution in a pilot project.

Withing the project, the software was completed, the interface functionality was checked, the software views (block diagram) were supplemented, and the software testing was completed at a pilot site. The created heating control solution controls the operation of the gas boiler in the building and communicates with the Calidity EMS platform.

As a result of the activities, a new method for digitalizing and controlling heating devices was added to the Calidity EMS capabilities. Based on the solution being created, TarkVent OÜ will be able to independently interface central heating devices with the Calidity EMS platform in the future.

The created solution gives TarkVent OÜ an unusual ability to digitalize older boilers in existing buildings on the Estonian and European markets. Having such a capability gives the Calidity EMS offering a very significant competitive advantage from the perspective of customers using central heating boilers.
