Description

TarkVent OÜ is the creator and distributor of Calidity software. In addition to software development, Calidity has been providing indoor climate monitoring, energy monitoring and ventilation system expertise services since 2016.

The objective of the project is to create six new or significantly updated software features with the aim of increasing the value and reliability of Calidity software when used by both distributors and direct customers. As a result of the project, Calidity will increase its software sales and bring on additional software developers and salespeople.

The direct beneficiaries of the project shall be the future customers of TarkVent OÜ – mainly owners and operators of commercial real estate in Norway and the EU. Additionally, the socioeconomic benefits of greenhouse gas emission reductions shall benefit the general public.

Summary of project results

Project tackled wit energy efficiency in buildings as its main challenge. Energy efficiency is a global issue, as it is one of the most important levers for reducing the impact of climate change. 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions and 36% of energy consumption are caused by the construction and operation of buildings.

At the request of countries and consumers, the requirements for energy efficiency and indoor climate in buildings are constantly increasing. The COVID-19 pandemic increased the interest and awareness of the real estate industry in the role of ventilation and indoor climate monitoring in ensuring healthy air.

The situation is made problematic by the fact that it is not easy to simultaneously improve the energy consumption of buildings and the quality of the indoor climate experienced in them, because ventilation, heating and air conditioning are energy-intensive processes, but reducing their intensity by conventional means leads to a deterioration of the indoor climate in buildings. The best way to simultaneously ensure optimal energy use and a healthy indoor climate in an existing building is demand-based and smart management, supported by transparent information exchange with the customer.

Project was targeted to promoting the reduction of energy usage through development of new features of the Calidity platform, helping commercial building operators reduce their energy usage and CO2 emissions through better energy monitoring tools. For this purpose, six software modules were developed: a building alarm generator, a building properties declaration module, and an analytics center for indoor climate measurements. In addition, degree day analytics, an automatic report generator, an installer, and a maintenance phone application were developed.

All software modules planned in the project have been developed, tested and added to the Project Promoter service portfolio. The solutions are actively used.
