Description

The main focus of this project is to find a solution to peat manufacturer labor problem and to optimize the production process from the manufacturer and environment aspects. Milrem AS has developed a new platform which has excellent peatland permeability and which will replace the tractors on production operations. Production process operations are similar and it involves repeating the same action repeatedly which will make it possible to automate these operations. Central control system and software is needed for the automation. This development will make possible for one operator to control many platforms in the peat manufacturing. It means that the manufacturer will save on workforce and fuel expenses, which are the main part of the production cost. This innovative development will solve the labor problem, creates new and higher-paid jobs and makes peat production more environment friendly. Besides the central control system and software, additional development of the platform needs to be carried out in order it to work in full electric mode as well as resizing of the peat production tools for the platform. Peat is manufactured on standardized manufacturing fields, which gives the possibility to develop a new system in Estonia and later use it in other world peat industries.
