Summary of project results

Creating a local adaptation strategy to climate change is crucial for Prague 12 for several reasons. As part of the broader Prague metropolitan area, Prague 12 faces unique climate challenges and vulnerabilities that may not be adequately addressed by larger-scale strategies. By developing its own tailored adaptation plan, Prague 12 can identify and prioritize specific risks, opportunities, and mitigation measures that are relevant to its local context. This proactive approach ensures that the community is better prepared to cope with the impacts of climate change, safeguarding its infrastructure, environment, and residents'' well-being in the face of increasingly unpredictable weather patterns and environmental shifts.

The adaptation strategy for Prague 12 was developed through a comprehensive process involving stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and expert consultation. Drawing upon local knowledge and scientific insights, the strategy identifies key climate change risks and vulnerabilities specific to Prague 12. It proposes a range of adaptation measures tailored to address these challenges, including enhancing green infrastructure, improving water management practices, promoting sustainable urban development, and enhancing community resilience through education and awareness campaigns. These measures aim to safeguard the well-being of residents and mitigate the potential impacts of climate change on the local environment and infrastructure.

Based on this adaptation strategy, Prague 12 has initiated a subsequent project, generously supported by Norway Grants.  As part of this project, green measures were implemented. This endeavor has enabled Prague 12 to translate its adaptation objectives into actionable steps, bolstering the community''s resilience to climate change effects. Through focused initiatives and strategic investments, the municipality continues to fortify its ability to adapt to shifting environmental dynamics, ensuring a sustainable future for its residents.
