Description

The aim of the project is to create an adaptation strategy for the municipality of Březina. The main benefit of the project proposal is the definition and commitment of the long-term strategic approach and the identification of measures that the project promotor will implement in the context of climate change at the local level.

Summary of project results

In the village of Březina, adverse effects of climate change are becoming evident, including more frequent extreme weather events such as prolonged droughts and heavy rainfall. These phenomena pose risks to the stability of the ecosystem and the well-being of residents. Shifts in precipitation patterns bring the threat of floods, soil erosion, and forest fires, significantly impacting agriculture, infrastructure, and community safety. Rising temperatures and extreme weather also have negative implications for public health and biodiversity. Urgent action is needed for the village to actively address climate change and implement measures to safeguard the environment and enhance community resilience to these challenges.

In the village of Březina, an adaptation strategy to climate change was developed in collaboration with local residents, experts, and authorities. The process began with gathering data on historical climate patterns and projections of future changes. Subsequently, public consultations were held to identify key areas of vulnerability and priorities for protection. The strategy focuses on measures such as implementing resilient agricultural practices, better water resource management, and protection against floods and forest fires. An important component is also public awareness and support for community readiness for changes. This adaptation strategy provides a framework for effectively safeguarding the village of Březina from the negative impacts of climate change.

As part of the adaptation strategy, a list of specific adaptation and mitigation measures to be implemented in the village of Březina has been compiled. These measures include the promotion of renewable energy sources, the enhancement of green infrastructure, the implementation of water-saving technologies, the establishment of early warning systems for extreme weather events, and the promotion of sustainable land use practices. Additionally, efforts will be made to strengthen community resilience through education and training programs, as well as the development of emergency response plans. These concrete actions are integral to ensuring the long-term sustainability and resilience of the community in the face of climate change impacts.

Summary of bilateral results

Cooperation with our partner was unable to proceed as initially planned due to limitations imposed by COVID-19 measures. However, the project was able to leverage and benefit from our partner''s expertise within their specialized area, despite the constraints.
