Description

The presented project aims at the exchange of experience and professional skills of both partner schools teaching staff. Within the project a cooperation of the two secondary educational institutions is included, namely through the realization of mutual study visits of the teachers. The study visits participants will be given an opportunity to develop their professional skills and even improve key competencies in their filed. We expect the project to be a contribution improving the quality of vocational training on both sides - the Czech and the Norwegian, and strengthening the bilateral relationships toward further and possibly more intensive cooperation, regarding common interests and technical education topics in particular.

Summary of project results

Practical study visits abroad for students and staff improve general outlook, independence, language competence and professional development, which makes their graduates much more employable on the labor market. The project was focused on the exchange of knowledge and professional experience of the teaching staff of the schools of both project participants, through mutual visits in Volyně (Czech Republic) and Bodo (Norway). They will be able to transfer the newly acquired information and experience into regular teaching practice in their field and thus improve and expand their professional skills, which they can pass on to their students. As part of the project, two short mutual study visits took place. During the study visit, the representatives of both partners of the project learned basic information about the educational system of secondary education in the given country, the subjects taught at the school, teaching methods and were able to get to know the overall atmosphere of the school. The reason for the implementation of the project was the establishment of closer mutual cooperation with the help of the honorary consulate of Northern Norway, which was also a project partner, and the start of work on further follow-up cooperation. This should be aimed at other teaching staff, but especially at the pupils of both schools.

Summary of bilateral results

The main contribution of the colaboration and project activities was the comparison of school systems in countries that are very far away, but in the same time zone, which generates a number of similar problems. Our school (Vyšší odborná a Střední průmyslová škola) is one of the oldest industrial schools in Bohemia (founded in 1864) and is very traditional in training technicians for the field of construction and woodworking. On the contrary, the Norwegian school (founded in 1984) is significantly closer to modern forms of teaching and ahead in the field of inclusive education and project-based learning.
