Description

This mobility project is built up as a bridge between historic topics and today’s questions concerning democracy values, as a bridge between various accesses cross over the disciplines (literature, history, psychology, sociology, art), as a bridge between Norway and the Czech Republic, as a bridge between the individual participants in both countries. The focus is on historical topics, e.g. portraits of Holocaust victims and survivors, portraits of the volunteers connected with the Nansen-aid organisation in the years 1938 - 1940. The central perspective points toward an analysis of "active citizenship" in the mirror of present democracy discourse in Europe. The overall project objectives shall enable the students and other participants profound understanding and adequate realizing of the essential human values such as respect to national and religious minorities in society. The student groups travelling abroad will be followed by experienced teachers and experts, so that the mobility outcomes bring for the students'' professional competencies (e.g. communication with media) and to promote the acquired knowledge in the context frame of the Norwegian-Czech mutual cultural exchange relations. Moreover, all these aspects shall be produced benefits such as a cognitive enrichment and emotional experience for all participants. Moreover, there will be a  doctoral student of Psychology, who will collect the material for her research for the dissertation regarding life satisfaction and spirituality. Her main goal is to improve teaching methods and content of the course Psychology of Religion at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. Thanks to her research, she will contribute to this course with new multicultural outcomes and findings.

Summary of project results

The mobility project between Masaryk University and three Norwegian partner institutions was a unique chance to extend the cognitive horizon of the direct and indirect participants. The direct contact with the Norwegian environment, with the involved experts and institutions, moreover, with the actual Norwegian discourse on the project issues (e.g. national self-reflection about collaboration with the Nazi occupation power, the life satisfaction and spirituality of the Norwegians), was unreplaceable. The second half of the project period was affected by the COVID-19 restrictions in Norway and the Czech Republic. The teachers and experts from Norway could not come for lecturing to Brno, but they kept mentoring the students and networking. The project resulted in strengthening the institutional cooperation as well as in the improvement of knowledge and skills of the participants.
