Description
The innovative use of the cultural monument of the Dalešice Brewery consists in reviving the monument by modernising the existing tour route and using multimedia elements to make the museum route more attractive.
The brewery will cooperate with a partner in Iceland on this activity. Due to declining visitor numbers and the increasing costs of running the monument, there are unfortunately no funds left to invest in upgrading the museum route. The project will change the libretto of the tour route and automate the tour circuit with interesting elements focused on perception with all senses. The uniqueness of the exhibition lies in the presentation of the brewing industry in terms of traditional crafts and working roles in the brewery, suitably complemented by cultural activities and fairs, which will be implemented in cooperation with the local theatre association. This will lead to the realisation of live performances presenting individual crafts and work roles. The proposed project also includes activities aimed at organising cultural activities to promote community gatherings. There is no similar museum anywhere in the Czech Republic that presents the craft of brewing in this way.
The project will be carried out with the involvement of partners from Iceland and the Czech Republic, who enter the project either as expert consultants for sharing know-how (Technical Museum in Akureyri) or as the implementers of the cultural activities themselves (local theatre association).
The project responds to the needs of the place and is in line with the priorities of the strategic documents at the local and regional levels.
Summary of project results
The project was needed due to the lack of a community space, discussed with the mayor of Dalešice, and addressed declining museum attendance and the need for interactive tours. It focused on preserving cultural heritage and supporting local development. The main challenge was financing the brewery''s revitalization and creating an attractive space for both the community and tourists. Coordination with partners from the Czech Republic, Iceland, and experts in brewing and culture was essential.
The project involved five key activities:
KA1 – Cultural and Educational Activities: Events like Hrabal Night and Revived Forgotten Crafts brought brewery traditions to life and attracted hundreds of visitors, supporting local cultural heritage.
KA2 – Innovation of the Tour Route: Interactive tours and a new exhibition on brewing and minorities enhanced the brewery''s appeal and educational opportunities.
KA3 – Folk Traditions of the Czech Republic and Iceland: Events like Christmas - Jól, Beer Day, Doughnut Day, and Masopust connected Czech and Icelandic traditions, enriching cultural exchange.
KA4 – Project Publicity: Promotion through the website and social media increased awareness and attracted a broader audience.
KA5 – Project Management: Effective project management and monitoring of indicators were supported by external experts.
These activities were crucial for preserving cultural heritage, boosting tourism, and ensuring the sustainability of the project.
The project''s main outcomes included increased visitor numbers to the Dalešice Brewery and improved cultural and educational offerings. The tour route innovation and the new brewing and minority exhibition enhanced interactivity for tourists. Additionally, 16 cultural events attracted 9,296 visitors. An unintended effect was greater involvement of the local community and partners. The project raised awareness of cultural heritage and supported the local economy.
Summary of bilateral results
The main results of the cooperation with the Icelandic partner included the exchange of knowledge and experience in the management and presentation of cultural heritage. Thanks to this cooperation, it was possible to create programmes that bridged Czech and Icelandic traditions, such as the events Christmas - Jól or Beer Day, which led to the enrichment of the cultural programme and improved understanding between the two cultures. The cooperation has also resulted in shared outputs in the form of cultural events and innovative methods of presenting cultural heritage, such as interactive elements in the brewery''s exhibitions. The partnership has had a wider impact by broadening the perspectives of both teams to include new approaches to the management and promotion of cultural heritage sites, which has contributed to improving the management of cultural heritage at an international level
