Description

Most of Brno''s music clubs and cultural event organizers in the musical landscape of Brno have freshly formed "BACH - Brno Association of Club Music" (Brněnská Asociace Clubové Hudby).

The association focuses mainly on cooperation between individual members. The aim of this project is to improve the conditions for the functioning of the association, associated enterprises and organizers of cultural events.

Specifically, the development of a web and mobile application that will facilitate the orientation of the organizers in the planned dramaturgy and at the same time clearly show the synthetic programme at one place for club visitors.

The app will serve as an online platform for mutual communication between promoters, thus avoiding collisions of the programme and making it easier for individual members to help or organize joint events.

Furthermore, preparations for organisation of a sophisticated showcase festival together with a conference will take place. In this showcase, a commonly coordinated programme will take place at member clubs and, in addition to concerts, workshops and lectures of representatives of supporting organizations and experts from related domains will be organized.

This showcase festival should then be held as a follow-up to this project, i.e. it is not part of this project.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to connect music professionals and their intensive collaboration. To better inform and broaden awareness of the functioning of music clubs for the general public. The combination of a music festival, a conference for music professionals and a web and mobile app made it all a success. The only major problem was the pandemic, which slowed down and transformed the club environment and the behaviour of visitors. This change is still a challenge for the BACH assoc.

Showcase BACH - as part of the showcase, the ReConnect music conference was held in cooperation with the Music Managers Forum and SoundCzech. Furthermore, the Brno music festival BATCH took place. Two editions took place during the project. We are continuing the tradition. The last event took place in early October 2024. Both the festival and the music conference have growing attendance and are becoming an increasingly popular event for both music professionals and the general public.

During the course of the project, work continued on the development of the BACH mobile and web app - which was also renamed Clubbing Brno for better marketing outreach to the target audience. This app currently has the largest and most up-to-date database of Brno club events and most of the main Brno music clubs are represented.

The main output of the project was to support a network of music clubs. Users, whether music professionals or in the second wave club-goers, musicians etc., have the opportunity to meet, use mobile and web interfaces and this leads to closer and more informed collaboration. The numbers of festival attendees are around 1,000 each year, with the numbers of registered music professionals increasing by tens of people each year. The app has been launched over 23,000 times in its lifetime.

The project was a significant milestone in connecting music professionals in a very competitive environment. Music club operators now have the opportunity to newly communicate their programs, goals, uncertainties, and problems on a local and national level. Everything is supported by data from applications and communicated at their meetings, or discussed with other participants in the music operation at a music conference. We believe that this direction has its positives in the longer term.
