Description

The project will occur in Iceland, Norway and the Czech Republic. The podcast is based in Prague and we will travel around the Czech Republic and neighboring regions to record both panel discussions and individual podcasts. Over the course of the 18 month program, and with the assistance of Hunt Kastner Gallery and their relationship with Aliance galerií současného umění, whose members include Drdova Gallery, Polansky Gallery, SVIT Gallery, Lítost, and more. We will have the opportunity to record podcasts with both Arts Professionals in the region, and the professionals that they bring to this region for exhibitions, conferences, and fairs. Throughout the 18 month program we will travel throughout the Czech Republic and neighboring regions to record at least 20 individual podcasts and 15 panel discussions.

We will travel to Iceland in June and November 2021. Each trip will last 10 days and we will record at least 10 individual podcast with contemporary Icelandic visual art professionals.

We will travel to Oslo, Norway in April 2021 for 10 days and record at least 5 panel discussions and 10 individual podcast with contemporary Norwegian visual art professionals. We will return to Norway in September 2021 to the Lofoten International Art Festival where we will record at least 5 panel discussions and 10 individual podcast with contemporary Norwegian visual art professionals.

Once edited, the podcasts will then be made available online for listeners worldwide. We currently have listeners in over 50 countries and look forward to the opportunity of expanding the reach of the voice of Norwegian, Icelandic and Czech contemporary visual art professionals throughout the world.

Summary of project results

The project was needed to offer the public insight into the difficulties and real life experience in the
Art Industry. The biggest challenge was the Covid lockdown. While it limited certain in person
opportunities it opened up a wide world of opportunities because of the sudden availability of
people all over the world to record episodes with us virtually. Another significant challenge was the
language barrier, because people could not converse or were unwilling to be recorded in English.

Final beneficiary traveled around the Czech Republic, Iceland, Estonia, and Norway coordinating and recording
conversations about topics that are relevant and critical to the Arts in their regions. The podcast will
continue to be available worldwide and to encourage larger critical dialogue and cultural
entrepreneurship through a sharing of knowledge, expertise, and experiences.
Final beneficiary recorded, edited, published, and publicized more the 93 episodes of the podcast including:
Individual from Iceland - 20
Individual from Norway - 29
Panel from Norway - 6
Panel from CZ - 16
CZ and Surrounding Individual 22

Final beneficiary have been contacted by high school and University professors who use the podcast as a teaching
tool in their classroom and by listeners who were able to transform their personal art practice and
enhance their ability to make a living from their art. While these are great short term outcomes, the
effects of the podcast will be most evident over a larger span of time because the next generation
will listen to them while in school and it will impact their career choices and future trajectory.

Summary of bilateral results

The partnership in Norway was fabulous, the ability to travel to and connect with artists and artprofessional in Norway was the highlight of the experience for me. Because of time spent inLofoten final beneficiary has a much greater understanding of not only what it takes to put on an art festival inNorway, but the remote nature of it and how this aspect impacts the variety of choices they mustmake. In Oslo he was able to learn both form the conversations recorded but by the time spent in thecity. His insights into the Norwegian art industry was enhanced by his ability to walk around and seeand meet the people and places throughout the city.
