Description

For effective understanding to the present, strengthening in it and to decide to engage in society, it is necessary to adopt democratic values, the will to acquire information and the skills to work with them. Facing history and ourselves towards today society project offers interconnected activities that lead to an understanding of our identity and history’s influence on our perception of today. Cooperation with organizations in structurally affected regions directly
with members of the Roma community enables the majority and Roma com.connection, taking into account their attitudes and needs.

We will develop input and output evaluation questionnaires, mapping the shift in knowledge, attitudes and values, for three target groups - teachers, lecturers and youth. In the project, we will focus on the shift and development of four areas: values, attitudes, skills and knowledge, and critical understanding.

Summary of project results

In the project, we focused on moving and developing four areas: values (human dignity and human rights, cultural diversity, democracy, justice, equality and the rule of law), attitudes (openness, respect, civic awareness, responsibility and self-confidence), skills (analytical and critical thinking, active listening, empathy, communication skills, cooperation) and knowledge and critical understanding (of the world, oneself and its place in the world and in society). We can evaluate the impact on the basis of the evaluation of course graduates (written and oral), lecturers who subsequently lectured programs for youth (including intergenerational discussions), pupils and participants in these discussions and young people involved in the shooting of clips. At the same time, we can evaluate as a project team that participated in the implementation of the project. We can also evaluate based on the feedback from our project partners.
Based on the feedback from the course graduates, we know that the goals set in Activity 1 have been achieved - the course graduates are trained in the Facing History and Ourselves method, the experience gained will benefit from their work in schools, including soft skills and communication. Also two excursions to places of memory - to Lety u Písku and to Auschwitz led to gaining important experiences. For teachers who attended seminars for teachers, we have confirmed in the written evaluation that the knowledge and experience passed on to them was at a very high level, and they led to the development of values, attitudes and knowledge that they benefit from in their work. Pupils developed all 4 areas that we focused on. Unfortunately, due to the premature termination of the project due to the unstable situation in the organization, it was not possible to shoot 6-8 more clips and debate them, as well as the final student conference to bring all three target groups together, introduce them and support them in their interconnected work. as well as activate in volunteer work. If these two activities could be completed, the impact of the project would be much greater and more measurable.
