The main goal of the project is to create employment for unemployed people from groups at risk by boosting the economic activity in Levski municipality. The strategy, developed within the framework of project #BGLD-1.002-0001 "Growth through activation of local potential - GALOP" and with the active participation of Levski Municipality, is the basis on which the project proposal is based. The specific project objectives are addressed, on the one hand, to the development of innovative medical services in the field of physiotherapy, which will create a prerequisite for the launch and development of health/medical tourism in the Levski municipality, as well as to the creation of employment in this area, and on the other - to the increase of local entrepreneurial activity through the creation, development and management of a new type of health services, attractive to groups of patients from neighboring and other regions of the country with certain types of diseases that require rehabilitation and physiotherapy of the most modern type.
Summary of project results
The first challenge was to create employment for unemployed people from risk groups, by increasing the economic activity of MBAL Levski. The second challenge was to enhance the economic activity of MBAL Levski by introducing innovative medical practices in the field of physiotherapy, i.e., a system with virtual reality "NIRVANA" and "Salt Room" for halotherapy. The third challenge was to create conditions for sustainable employment in the area of innovative medical practices through training of the persons employed under the project.
A total of 20 unemployed from the project target group with secondary education underwent motivational training toform skills for job search and to provoke interest in joining the project. The project ensured 12-month employment for 4 unemployed people in the profession Medical attendant with a mentor for 3 months, and for 3 unemployed people in the profession Health assistant. A Center for Innovative Recreational Services was established at the Physical and Rehabilitation Ward in the hospital. Rehabilitation services through NIRVANA virtual reality system were introduced to patients with impaired motility. Halotherapy was provided to patients with respiratory or skin problems, nervous diseases, for post Covid rehabilitation, and to strengthen the immunity. Five different trainings were provided for unemployed people in the municipality and for the 7 employees under the project.
The project achieved the following results for Levski municipality: 1) Increased economic activity of MBAL Levski EOOD.; 2) Created conditions for permanent employment of people employed under the project in the field of health services; 3. Created a Center for Innovative Recreational Services at the Physical and Rehabilitation Ward at MBAL-Levski EOOD, thus making it the second medical facility providing such services in Bulgaria.
