Description
Djenny Sport Ltd., a small company established in 2008 within the textile industry, offers a diverse range of sportswear, including sport jackets, outfits, and underwear for men, women, and children.
However, the company currently faces operational challenges due to outdated machinery. These machines, powered by constantly rotating motors, result in decreased productivity, slow production processes, and excessive manual labour. Moreover, they waste a significant amount of fabric, leading to increased textile waste. This not only elevates the company''s costs, reducing profits and competitiveness but also leaves a substantial environmental footprint.
To tackle these issues, the project aims to enhance production efficiency by minimizing waste and preserving the value of resources. Simultaneously, it seeks to boost productivity to meet growing market demand. By investing in a new green production line, Djenny Sport Ltd. anticipates the following benefits:
- A minimum 20% increase in productivity
- Enhanced production quality
- 25% reduction in fabric consumption annually
- A 40% decrease in energy consumption compared to current levels
The project''s successful outcomes will significantly bolster the company''s competitiveness.
Summary of project results
The company has been using outdated machinery''s for its production process ( mechanical equipment with constantly rotating motors) and this resulted in low productivity, slower production process and increased manual labour. Furthermore, the machines spent too much fabric, which can''t be re-used and it was representing a big volume of textile waste. In addition, the energy consumption has been very high due to the fact that the equipment was consuming energy throughout the working day, even if not used. This, on the one hand, had negative economic consequences for the company - incurs additional expenses for the enterprise, increasing the cost of products and reducing profits, and hence affects the company overall competitiveness. On the other hand, the environmental footprint that the company was leaving behind was significant. The project has addressed precisely this need for improving production efficiency through minimizing waste leftovers and maintaining the economic value of products, materials and resources, on one hand. On the other hand - the project results allowed the company to increase its productivity and expand the production volume in order to respond to the increasing demand on the market.
The main project activities were as follows:
1. Preparation of tender documentation and procurement procedure for selecting a supplier
2. Investment in and implementation of a new production line
3. Communication and dissemination
The main objective of the project was to increase the competitiveness of Djeni Sport Ltd. and to increase the turnover and net operational profit of the company. Through the project new green technology and processes have been applied and they will directly contribute to reducing the textile waste generated from own production and reduction of CO2 emissions. The investment its directly contributing to :
- diversification of the products’ range of the company
- strengthening the company’s position on the market
- improving the environmental impact .
Introducing of new products are expected to increase the competitiveness of the company through: i) optimization of the resources'' usages and ii) increasing of the company’s cash flow by new products sales and decreasing the production costs per unit produced.
