Description

Energy-efficient lighting is a priority at both European, national and municipal levels. Street lighting is one of the main components of urban infrastructure and is very important for creating an attractive environment for living, business, and tourism. Artificial lighting creates good base for more activities throughout the night time. Good street lighting is an important prerequisite for the safe movement of motor vehicles/in the night, for the bigger traffic capacity of the street network, for the security and confidence of the pedestrians and limitation of the criminal activities. Citizens'' safety is the main task of street lighting in residential areas, covering inner-city streets and places with low traffic intensity. Street lighting is great social benefit for the people but it also represents a significant part of the expenses of the municipality of Straldzha. Reducing the cost of lighting and improving street lighting is a complex and controversial task. The project proposal consist of the newest technologies – high class LED lamps, lamps that use solar energy as main energy source, system for monitoring of the electrical consumption and systems for regulation of the street lightning. The successful implementation of the project will assure significant energy savings and will greatly increase the quality of life in the municipality of Straldzha. The project for the reconstruction of street lighting systems is indispensable and will contribute to the achievement of the main target of the program reduction of the carbon intensity and increase of the safety of supplied energy by: • Increase of the produced energy by RES • Improvement of the energy efficiency in the buildings, industry and municipalities • Improvement of the expert capacity of the municipal specialists on the area of renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy management.
